The Modern Automobile Must Die
The New Republic ^ | August 20, 2018 | By EMILY ATKIN

If we want to solve climate change, there's no other option.

Germany was supposed to be a model for solving global warming. In 2007, the country’s government announced that it would reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by the year 2020. This was the kind of bold, aggressive climate goal scientists said was needed in all developed countries. If Germany could do it, it would prove the target possible.

But with a little over a year left to go, despite dedicating $580 billion toward a low-carbon energy system, the country “is likely to fall short of its goals,” Bloomberg reported. And the reason for that may come down not to any elaborate solar industry plans, but something much simpler: cars.

Changing the way we power our homes and businesses is certainly important. But as Germany’s shortfall shows, the only way to achieve these necessary, aggressive emissions reductions to combat global warming is to overhaul the gas-powered automobile and the culture that surrounds it. The only question left is how to do it.

For Germany to meet emissions targets, “half of the people who now use their cars alone would have to switch to bicycles, public transport, or ride-sharing,” Heinrich Strößenreuther, a Berlin-based consultant for mobility [said].

“A new transport system that connects bicycles, buses, trains, and shared cars, all controlled by digital platforms that allow users to move from A to B in the fastest and cheapest way—but without their own car,” Schwägerl said.

I realize that. It was also ten years and one owner ago, plenty of time for an ignorant reporter to find something out

They want to force everyone out of the rural areas and into the cities.
These are the kooks who want to keep the rural areas “pristine”, for the pleasure of the ruling class alone.
Farming will be done by the state.
They have it all planned out, but first they have to take our guns so we cannot defend ourselves from their rule.

Yeah, I shouldn’t have used that phrase. I really mean (and should have taken the time to write) ‘hydrocarbons’.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.
3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Pound sand up your poop-chute!

That is now to be referred to as the "back" hole.

I’d love to see thorium go into real use.

The Chinese research into Thorium reactors has gotten a big boost by President Trump.

My dad bought/had a 1974 Cadillac Eldorado. Brand new loaded $8K. 501 Cubic inch V8.

Also, the 2018 Dodge Challenger does not look that much different than the one in your picture.

IMO, they've done a tremendous job with the retro Mustangs. It's about the only retro I care for. Challenger would be second. Would like it even better if it weren't so 'stocky'. The original Challenger was more sleek.

They sure were. Damn shame what has happened to our pop culture. Music (obviously), tv shows, movies (great Westerns, etc), cartoons (Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Popeye, Flintstones, on and on), popular foods, clothes styles...

There is also another, more sinister reason:

Since a major, major depopulation initiative is in the cards (per Agenda 21 or 30 not sure which), it will be much easier and expedient to round up as many millions as possible into one manageable area.

Picture thousands of high rise buildings right next to each other each holding ten thousand+ people per building in every major city around the world, and you can see how a few billion can be exterminated in a relatively short time and relatively easy.

One other way I’ve read they will try to get people out of the rural areas is stop doing any maintenance on the roads or any infrastructure, rendering it all eventually unusable for any travel - to the store, to the doctor, to the hospital, to the gas station. Even the water supply will probably be cut as well.

But it was indubitably the muscle car enthusiasts of the sixties and seventies who actively helped kill them off.

Not through intent mind you, but through unintended consequences of the things they demanded from Detroit.

When preferring the old/original Challengers to the new "retros", I was mainly referring to their styling, not their performance and efficiency, although the old equipment was cool in lots of ways too, such as, as with all of the cars then, their being much easier to work on. I'm sure the new muscle cars, powerwise, are even more awesome than the old-school originals.
