Andrea Mitchell: Trump’s Cancellation of Brennan Clearance Could be “Obstruction of Justice”
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Can doing something you have the legal right to do nevertheless constitute a crime? Yes . . . according to Andrea Mitchell.

On today’s Morning Joe, just moments after acknowledging that President Trump “has the legal right” to have canceled John Brennan’s security clearance, Mitchell continued:

“Arguably, some people will say, and I’m not a lawyer, but I’m certain that Mueller is looking into this, that this could be another issue of potential obstruction of justice. Whether it is of criminal import or not, it certainly is a question.”

Well, the President has done it again. He yanked the leashes in the noses of the MSM and is leading them around with the Brennan story.

Trump completely owns the presstitutes

I would argue that rather than priviledge, a clearance is an obligation, a responsibility. To govern effectively, secrecy is needed and must be maintained

The Obama administration et al eschewed secrecy and allowed hacking at many levels.

Brennan and the others are not trustworthy

His clearance should have been taken away on the day he lied to Congress. That IS a crime.

The bttle will be accomplished at the time and place of my choosing

It can be argued that.....
The president chose the slow news month of August to assault and destroy Brennan with the complete domination of this week’s news cycle. The story did not get lost in the background

Yes, there is handle to grab; try to grasp it and it floats deeper into space.

I have had a security clearance for many years

You have exactly hit the point of "need-to-know"

I held a TS clearance for most of my 35 years of govt. service. Only once was I briefed into a TS document, and you can be sure that the system let me know that it was just because I had a Need-to-Know so that I could delivery a requirement.

We are now going from the ridiculous to the sublime. Mitchell and the rest of her MSM cabal haven't a clue.

I worked for the federal government for 36 years and held Top Secret and other compartmented intelligence clearances. I was a Senior Executive Service level employee. I lost my security clearances when I retired as do the overwhelming number of federal employees when they leave federal service. A small number of reemployed annuitants and contractors can retain their security clearances on a need to know basis.

Only a minuscule number of former federal employees at the very highest levels are accorded the courtesy of retaining their clearances to act as a resource for current administrations. These clearances are renewed every five years after security investigations are conducted as part of the renewal process. It costs the federal government (taxpayers) money and time to maintain these clearances.

Brennan accused the President of being a traitor. That alone is reason enough to cancel his clearance. Brennan is not going to be a resource for this President. Future Presidents could reinstate Brennan's clearances assuming he is not in jail by then.

Taking away Brennan's clearance is more symbolic than anything else. It is just a questionable perk that needs to be reviewed and reformed, not only for Brennan, but for the others who receive this perk. We need to move away from the "some are more equal than others" benefits when it comes to former federal employees. It also applies to equal treatment under the law. High ranking employees like Lois Lerner, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, et. al., need to be held accountable for their actions.
