The Seattle Times published an opinion piece entitled "Time to Retire the Blue Angels," which argued that the U.S. Navy demonstration team should not fly at Seattle's annual Seafair exposition. The author, Patrick Pilcher, wrote that he found the display "in poor taste," that the air show was a waste of money and a "display of military muscle-flexing that seems a bit outdated." Pilcher also believes that flying the jets is insensitive, since they "can be a reminder of the terror of death raining from the sky in the form of cluster bombs or other weapons" for "many recent immigrants from war-torn countries."...Liberal: "OH MY GOD! SOMEONE'S HAVING FUN! BAN IT!"

The Seattle Times is a liberal rag that replaced the Post-Intelligencer which was also a liberal rag worse than the ST that finally went out of business. But then, Seattle.

The author of the Seattle Times article fails in a huge way to recognize what these flight demonstrations do for the nation. Not at all. The author opposes what these flight demonstrations do for the nation.

Properly this needs a Deck NCO response, edited for clarity by a senior CPO. Not easy, because many of those words would not be actually words in human languages, and some expressions may invoke demons from other realms.
May cause ringing in the ears, nosebleeds, and severe gluteal trauma.

The incidence rate of fatal accidents in the Blue Angels and other demonstration teams is disturbingly high — certainly well above the casualty rate in the rest of US military aviation. Sending our best pilots into combat when national security demands it is one thing, but asking these highly dedicated (and expensively trained) pilots to undertake these hazards for entertainment and PR purposes strikes me as wasteful of human life and even an insult to military aviators who already risk so much for us. Why should these guys be putting their lives on the line so I can enjoy a cool show?
Flame away.

“Pilcher also believes that flying the jets is insensitive,...”
That’s the kind of wrong headed, pansy ass thinking that causes great nations to fail.
The ONLY thing the rest of the world respects in strength and the will to use it if necessary.

The last air show I went to had the Blue Angels. They were good. But even better was when an old bomber plane flew over us twice — the second time with the bomb bay doors opened. I got a chill wondering what it must have been like for a German Nazi or a Japanese imperial to see death rain down from the skies. It was far and away the best part of the air show.

I say load the Blue Angels up with cluster bombs and let them put on a REAL demonstration in Seattle! That'll give them something to worry about!
