Drowning In Debt: These States Are Approaching A Point Of No Return (FLEE!)
Townhall ^ | 08/02/2018 | Matt Vespa

Having grown up in New Jersey, you understand that Democrats are a tax and spend party and even liberals in the state understand it. The Garden State is a case study in mass exodus; it’s just too expensive to live there anymore. Are there signs that the Democrats get it? Maybe—the heavily Democratic legislature in Trenton had to tell Governor Phil Murphy that his tax increase agenda was more or less not going to happen. Taxes still went up, but it was not the insane proposal the governor’s office had pushed. Still, I doubt Demorats in these states will find rational solution to their fiscal woes. After decades of irresponsibility, these states are approaching a day of reckoning. It's the usual blue state madness crew: New Jersey, New York, Illinois, and California. For some, pension payments are a struggle (via Fox Business):

Connecticut may be the richest state in the country, on a per capita basis, but it's racked up a sizable debt worth more than $53 billion – and it could be taxpayers who are forced to bail out the Constitution State, according to the former governor of Indiana.

“Someone’s going to the barbershop,” Mitch Daniels, a Republican, said during an interview with FOX Business’ Stuart Varney on Thursday. “The first will be the taxpayers, already beleaguered in some of these states.”

And Connecticut isn’t the only state struggling with a debt crisis: California, Illinois, New Jersey and New York are unable to make pension payments to retired government workers.

In Illinois, for instance, vendors wait months to be paid by a government that’s $30 billion in debt, and one whose bonds are just one notch above junk bond status, according to Daniels. New York’s more than $356 billion in debt; New Jersey more than $104 billion; and California more than $428 billion.

My suggestion: if you live in these states, run!

At the end of the day most Republicans will vote for it.

And that would be brain-dead stupid and morally wrong, making the rest of America pay for their lack of fiscal discipline. Any Senator or Congressman voting for this deserves to hang for the re-institution of slavery - demanding that we work for the financial gain of others. Not "no", but "HELL NO!!!!!!!!"

Public employees retiring at 60 or on stress disability. Plenty of cash and leftist politics.

New York’s more than $356 billion in debt;

So is Cuomo going to pay the retirees from his own bank account or will he bankrupt the state, or will he raise everyone's taxes even higher even in the face of already crushing taxes that are made worse by the now lack of deductibility?. Cuomo's ticking fiscal time bomb, too bad the "journalists" are too busy worrying about stormy and other serious issues like protecting their fellow liberals. Yep, CNN's Chris Cuomo won't be looking into this will he?

Consider that on the other end of that tunnel is New York.

I’m a little shocked Massachusetts didn’t make the ‘circling the bowl’ list.

Lived in CT from mid-seventies ‘till the early nineties; about 16 years. Cost of living was fairly high in Fairfield County (in SW CT) where we lived, but in those days the state was still solvent. In neighboring Westchester County (NY state) the taxes were dramatically higher than in CT. So, at least then, it was more desirable to live in Fairfield County, which was within easy commuting distance of NYC. Then the democrats in Hartford started increasing corporate taxes & property taxes about a decade ago, to the extent several companies with corporate headquarters in CT started to bail. One of them being GE, which moved to the Boston area.

This bailout, if you go over the five states in question, will amount to well over 300 billion dollars (figure 2020 anticipated numbers). I don’t see the public buying easily into this, or the GOP ‘fake’ squad being able to easily accept this. Even the DNC folks will have a problem in funding that size of a package.

Kinda reminds me of the way Greece failed, and how the Germans mandated changes to occur to get them back to normal (with forced taxation), and the eventual pay-back of money.

When these states go bankrupt, they should revert to territorial status and lose their Senators, Representatives, and Electoral Votes.

Message to blue staters:

You do NOT want to come to Alabama.

Everything you heard on TV is true!

We have thousands of toothless rednecks shooting guns, driving muscle cars and trucks with Rebel flags, marrying their cousins and fightin’ over things every day.

This is no place for your refined sensibilities.

Signed, AB in Alabama

"YES! These yankees come down South to escape the insanity, then turn around and demand we elect commies and socialists like they had up there, while all the time telling us how they did things up nawth. That's why NC is turning "purple" and what they're trying to do in Georgia."

We Virginians feel your pain. Northern Virginia filled up with rats.

Now they will find new nests to foul. It’s already happening in Texas.

These leftists are like locust. They will infest red states with their leftist policies and high taxes and then move on to other prosperous, well governed states. The notion that government will provide for everything needs to end. When will people wake up realize, they’re just robbing their fellow citizens and themselves.

I live in Illinois, I was born here (in Chicago) and have lived here (in the suburbs) for more than forty years. When I was five years old, my family moved to Indiana and I lived there through most of my college years. After college, I moved back to Illinois. My ancestors came to Illinois over a century ago.

My wife’s family has lived in Illinois almost since its founding two hundred years ago. We want our state back.

All the folks I know escaping from NYS are makers and conservatives. Trust me when I tell you any state in the union will be glad to get them.

I read somewhere that 15% of Connecticut’s state retirees account for 30% of the state’s budget.
Don’t know if that’s correct but it’s certainly plausible, IMHO.

Illinois can rot as far as I am concerned. It is beyond repair. I check the availability of real estate in Indiana at least twice a week. It is amazing how quickly property sells if it is within 10 miles of the IL/IN state line.

Arkansas too! We are the national HQ for KKK, and chiggers, ticks, mosquitos, water moccasins and copperheads abound! We are full of pitbulls, rednecks, and violent BLM types. Do NOT come to AR.
