Nicaraguan Government: 'President Ortega will not resign'
EuroNews ^ | 07/17/2018

Responding to criticism from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, who has asked the Nicaraguan government to stop state violence and disarm pro-government groups, Mr Oquist accused the UN High Commissioner was guilty of inaccuracy.

"This is based on nothing," Mr Oquist said. "It's based on local human rights sources, which have been partial for decades. These unproven generalizations are not helping the search for peace."

When asked about the possibility that President Ortega will resign and hold elections, the minister responded: "... Why should the president resign?... Sandinistas also know how to put barricades on the street."

Daniel Ortega was elected President in 2006, but he and his wife - who is Nicaragua's Vice President - have come under fire for what critics call their authoritarian tendencies.

Well, Reagan tried to help the Nicaraguans.

They brought Ortega back.

Another dictator. People are complaining about Trump’s interactions with Putin, but Jimmy Carter helped prop up this guy. Things are in turmoil in Nicaragua, and I hope they don’t go the way of Venezuela.

Having owned several rental properties in my life, I’m a fan of HGTV. A couple years ago they had shows about US Citizens moving to Nicaragua. Wonder how “lovely” those people (and HGTV staff) are finding the place now?

There’s an old saying that step 1 of any gov’t action is to issue a denial...

Yes PGR, and I used to be able to work up quite a bit of steam against such instances.

And then our citizens voted in Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton twice, and Obama twice.

I’m much less inclined to dump on them now for their stupidity.

Groan...

There he is...

Kerry joins Carter and other Leftists who never seem to get their fill of Leftist dictators, Ortega, Chavez, Castro, Kim...

Isn’t it a hoot they think Trump is a dictator?

If they really thought so, they’d be breaking down doors to dine with him.

An Interesting point about Ortega. in the last 15 years, he has tried to mend fences with the Catholic Church. When he won the Presidential election in 2006 FSLN party (the former Sandinistas) actually outlawed abortion in Nicaragua, resulting a total ban taking effect in January 2008.

Ortega was also publicly accused of raping his step-daughter.

Overall, he is - a grasping politician.

“I used to be (an HGTV fan)until they starting showing butt pirates buying houses together.”

I also change the channel - lickety split you might say - when a same-same couple’s must have list rules out the need for a man cave. Butt whatdaya gonna do, I think HGTV is a Canadian company.
