I wouldn’t have a problem with him or his companies if they could stand on their own. But Musk has been a favorite welfare recipient of the government for a long time now.

He says he wants the future to be better. I like everything he's doing except the self-crashing feature in the cars. I'm perfectly capable of crashing without digital assistance, thank you very much.
But really, I expect the self-driving tech to actually get quite reliable and safe. The problem comes in when manual driving is finally banned, and your self-driving car is controlled by a mandated government network. In other words, you won't travel anywhere without the knowledge and acquiescence of a central authority. That is not liberty.

Musk made/makes all his money from the government. His cars, batteries, solar panels, etc., would not make him $billions without $billions of subsidies from the government.
Since liberals will throw other people’s money at anything called “green” Musk probably has to pay republicans more than he pays democrats. But any payments (donations) are just a business expense.
For a guy whose company lives on the Government and taxpayer dole, he is just greasing the skids.
