You would think that the notion of “if you don’t want to be detained or arrested, don’t commit crimes, which by definition include illegal entry into the US” wouldn’t be so controversial. Unfortunately, a large proportion of the population prefers to live in an alternative reality.
When I was younger and worked various jobs where I handled money I had plenty of opportunities to ‘help myself’ to some badly needed cash.

2. The thought of going to jail kept me from ever having 2nd thoughts.
