“Pope Francis is Catholic, and there are many Catholics who think like him.”

Pope Francis is Catholic?

Based on his writings, words and actions, I would strongly dispute that assertion.

It would be more accurate to call him a “Liberation Theology” communist, in the mold of Peron.

It would be more accurate to call him a sodomite-enabling, faith-undermining, soul-destroying usurper.

BTW, there are “many Catholics” who think “Francis” is a heretical, raving narcissistic loon - and want him deposed.

“Oxford Dictionary”, Second Edition

Volume X page 245

“1709 Act 7 Anne c. 5...The Children of all natural-born subjects, born out of the Liegeance of her Majesty...shall be deemed...to be natural-born Subjects of this Kingdom.”

That 1709 law was I believe what the founders would have gone by. Anne was Queen of England in 1709.

Dittos!!!

Laura definitely doesn’t speak for me, in fact, I’d worry about her choices.

Laura’s an east coast, Dartmouth grad, served as a clerk on Supremes, meaning to me, she speaks for “centrist/conservatives” who’ve never stepped a foot outside their established bubble.

Laura thinks she speaks for the “common man/woman” but who among us went to Dartmouth, got law degrees and clerked for the Supremes!

If we got degrees, they were from state colleges and universities and maybe got master’s going nights and summers, while raising our families and paying taxes, supporting local little leagues, all without being noticed by anyone, outside our own families.

Precisely. My only litmus test is that they understand their job is to interpret the Constitutions AS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN. If they do that, everything else takes care of itself. No one with a brain who knows the meaning of the word “life” for instance, would have ever condoned abortion.

You can’t litmus test every single conceivable issue.

I don’t really care what people think about me when I recognize that men and women are FUNDAMENTALLY different in thinking and temperament in ways that matter. People who would take me apart for stating this truth are NOT conservatives and are not worth my time debating.

“Trump will pick the right one..”

Hopefully!

“President Donald Trump nominated Rosenstein to serve as Deputy Attorney General for the United States Department of Justice on February 1, 2017. Rosenstein was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 25, 2017.”

Too bad that Oxford Dictionary is the harbinger of a legal definition.

Fact is - there are many conflicting and contradictory definitions of what NBC means. To us a NBC as a litmus test, or to claim Cruz (for example) is or isn’t a NBC is useless and pointless.

Is this individual a US citizen? Then he’s qualified to be our President. And I don’t care when or how he got his citizenship.

Want proof? Look at the 50 plus legal challenges to BHO. How many succeeded?

The founders knew exactly what it meant.

Naturally a citizen because they couldn’t possibly be anything else.
It was clearly understood until recent times.
See Minor Vs Happersett

Chief Justice Waite

“The Constitution does not, in words, say who shall be natural-born citizens. Resort must be had elsewhere to ascertain that. At common-law, with the nomenclature of which the framers of the Constitution were familiar, it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners. Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts. It is sufficient for everything we have now to consider that all children born of citizen parents within the jurisdiction are themselves citizens.”

I agree they’re not worth debating. I told one of them yesterday to Move On.

Too many women come out of universities with law degrees and are raving loonies. I’m not saying men are all that great either. But MOST of them don’t indulge in this Me Too Crap, Pussy Hat crap that modern women seem to love. You just know Ginsberg has a Pussy Hat at home.

The dims will fight whoever is the pick. It would be great theater to see the self proclaimed party of women chastise a SC women pick from Trump.

Politics will play a huge role on both sides.

Please post her statements about Roe vs. Wade.

The Supreme Court needs a sure thing.

It does not need another Souter.

The founders knew exactly what it meant.

_________________________________________

If they knew what it meant, then why didn’t they explain it, define it and place it into the Constitution.

Why has it been challenged and redefined though out our history?

Natural Born Citizen means nothing to our political processes these days.

“I would rather trust Trumps instincts on a good pick than what the evangelicals would like to see. No offense, but that just is not a good criteria.”

Perfect! Evangelicals need to get behind whomever Trump nominates. This should not be a narrow appointment, because it will make confirmation harder

“Sounds like a CATHOLIC dream pick to me.”

So, if she were Lutheran, you’d obviously write:
Sounds like a LUTHERAN dream pick to me.

If she were Methodist, you’d write:
Sounds like a METHODIST dream pick to me.

If she were Anglican, you’d write:
Sounds like a ANGLICAN dream pick to me.

If she were Jewish:
Sounds like a JEWISH dream pick to me.

And, if she were Mormon:
Sounds like a MORMON dream pick to me.

Hmm. Smells like BIGOTRY to me.
