Democrats and Republicans alike have found something they agree on: Wednesday’s announcement that swing-vote Justice Anthony Kennedy will step down from the Supreme Court sets up a historic, election-year struggle to replace him that could solidify a more conservative Court for a generation.

That’s right, and I think there are few of these ginned up “issues” that will be able to move the fight over the nominee off the headlines.
Also, polls are showing that blacks are seeping over to Trump’s side in steady numbers. If Trump nominates a black, and the democrats show their usual hate-fest (a la Clarence Thomas), it could cause more to re-consider and change their lap dog vote for democrats.

I keep saying all they need to do is give her the apnea test. She has been a zombie for quite some time.
Her opinions are all progressive-reflex post-morterms written by her clerks.
It's important that they put this nominee up for confirmation before the mid-term election. It will put pressure on those Democrats who are up for reelection in the states that Trump won in 2016 to vote for confirmation.
Same should be done with McCain
