To: E. Pluribus Unum

Is there any research out there that explains how this would be done, Constitutionally? I thought new states had to be admitted to the Union individually? If California dissolves itself into three separate territories, does that mean California is gone and any or all of the three new entities have to be admitted individually? Like before the Civil War, we don’t need any more slave states!

We have the precedent of West Virginia breaking off from Virginia. The original Virginia remained Virginia and keeps the records, etc.
