And remember the Tax Bill that substantially cut corporate/business taxes.

That’s GOT to be helping, no?

So much BS. What they can’t do is find them at illegal worker rates. Offer competitive American citizen salary and there will be a line at the door.

Yep, how much is he paying is the key and what does he require to get hire. Probably 15 dollars an hour and needs 15 years experience running that machine.

Education and training are great! When I retired from the military I took a job at a university teaching. I taught advanced computer skill (networking and administration) and almost all of my students subsequently got and kept jobs.

It comes down not to getting and education or learning a skill, but rather is that education or skill useful to one’s future? Everyone except the filthy rich needs to have a livelihood providing them with money.

The greater group of people paying taxes (for example, FReepers) are getting weary paying for people not able to carry their own weight when they could and SHOULD.

When I was a little boy, I wanted to be an explorer. There’s just no cash in that anymore. All the Lost Cities of Gold have been found, or found lacking, so I had to learn a real skill.

That crap is infuriating. I thought age discrimination was illegal?

So much for the law. Bet if you were black and skilled and they didn’t hire you they’d easily get sued and lose.

It will lead to some inflation.

Most companies are VERY angry that the cheap labor from illegals is drying up. Funny thing, it isn’t all from Trump.

A lot of Spanish speakers know enough English speakers to demand better wages.

Here in Central FL, it is “we need Spanish speakers or bilingual, only”

Also, I looked on his website and he doesn’t have an open jobs section. No one who comes to his website would even know that he is hiring.

Only in the short term. Higher wages lead to increased savings, which, being necessary to create the loans for investment, is the seed corn of economic growth. The suppression of wages and diminished economic growth have been inextricably intertwined over the past few decades.

Somebody ought to tell these dumbasses about this thing called the ‘Free Market’. If you can’t find workers, pay more.

I spent enough time recently, as have many of my friends, looking for jobs that pay enough to live on; plenty of ‘help wanted’ signs but working 40 hours no one could afford even a room + food + healthcare, so I these SOB’s can go out of business as far as I care.

I loath cheap-asses who don’t want to pay a wage a man can raise a family on every it as much as welfare louts.

I’m not sure what’s going on, but I do have an anecdotal story; my brother, who is somewhat intelligent, able bodied, in his early 50s. Worked in the newspaper printing business for many years and was a manager. Of course, we all know how that’s going. He was downsized. After being out of work for several months, and submitting many, many resumes, he just got a job making $10 an hour.

Our business community does not really believe in the “free market”. Around 2/3 are collecting government subsidies in some form. Our local business publication is always full of supposed entrepreneurs and CEO’s who are all whining that the government is not doing enough for them. Whatever tilts the table in their direction is just hunky-dory.

Joke will be on them when a Bernie finally gets elected.

Anyone watching a NYC sewer worker standing in sewerage in the rain at 26 F. knows this, because that guy is doing what foreign workers will not do - but he is doing it at $35/hr plus massive benefits.
