Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick – a Democrat serving a 28-year sentence for corruption – is seeking President Donald Trump’s help to get out of prison early, according to reports.

Kilpatrick, writing on the Free Kwame Project website, says he has undergone a spiritual transformation since resigning from office in 2008 following a text-messaging sex scandal.

“By God’s grace, I have received a pardon from Him, through Christ Jesus. I pray that I will receive the opportunity for Pardon/Clemency from the President of the United States as well,” he writes.

But but but! He says Jesus has forgiven him, of which I have zero doubt. That’s what knowing Jesus brings.

However, kwamza, you ain’t in heaven yet, buddy. And you’re lying.

It is my understanding that the President can only deal with federal crimes and not state ones. I assume Kwame has those that put him in the crowbar hotel.

He was just following the lead of his past predecessor Coleman Young.

The difference is Coleman Young was good at being Corrupt, Kwame Kilpatrick was bad a being corrupt.

If he truly became a believer in Christ, that’s great and his reward is in heaven. That doesn’t excuse his crimes nor warrant a pardon.

BTW, his crime of perjury as listed in the article was paid in full. After his release from prison for that the Fed’s came down hard and convicted him of Federal charges of wire fraud, bank fraud and racketeering.

"I’ve seen documentaries on him. While all greed is disgusting, he seemingly reveled in it. He needs to serve every single day of his sentence because he is a very dangerous guy. A serious threat to society."

For those of us in the Detroit Burbs who watched this ass clown take the city down even further and ramp up it's road to bankruptcy even faster, ( His buddy on the pension board that lost 1.5 billion, and he wasn't and investment guru, he was something like a manager at Burger King, not that their isn't anything wrong with that ) I say no freaking way.

And for all the Detroit bashers out their, don't....

The city is on a rebound that would make you head spin, it is now a tourist destination because of it, it is a foody city and the small concert venues I have gone to are just chill. We don't need Kawame coming back and mucking this all up, they finally got their fiscal house in order, it is not perfect, but fiscally, I'd argue we are way better off than Hartford CT and Chicago.....

Still lying his ass off like he has done all his life. Corrupt to the core.

"Kwame's 24 counts of fraud and racketeering didn't come close to covering all of his abuses of power, but they were at least on point. Blago simply irked Obama by selling his former seat without any kickbacks to the Obama machine (an inexcusable transgression in Chicago politics, of course) and was caught talking about it by... you guessed it... wiretapped conversations. Obama's goons do not change their SOP much."

No one remembers, but I do.....

By Sept 08' Kawame was off the stage on the way to the big house, why? They didn't want him to be compared to or juxtaposed to BHO. They couldn't get him off the stage fast enough. Sadly their MO's are not that different, look at all of Obama's "Stashes" and the money given to Iran. Not a dime's worth of difference IMHO...

As a former Detroit-er all I can say is that there has been a steady decline of the city and it’s leadership since the 1967 riots.

From “Marbles in his mouth” Coleman Young and the corrupt city council comprised of thieves scoundrels and charlatans (since about 1974) to Kawamee, it has been the same sad story ever since.

Actually, if one wants to understand the fate of the city and the auto-industry, it is enough to track to SAD SACK Detroit Lions football team. Their performance since 1957 says it all for that city...

Building the Renaissance Center with a Renaissance concept did not revitalize the city for as long as residents did not feel safe walking the streets, nobody will want to live or work there.

Maybe now after Detroit was seen as far worse than Hiroshima 1945, maybe now with true leadership the city can be born again.

It is pretty sad. Sad. That once vibrant city, destroyed by leftist politics at the federal, state, and local levels.

Including the scumbag unions.

The difference being that the crooked Blago was railroaded on the particular charges that he was jailed for... and Kwame's charges were all quite well-deserved and thoroughly proven.

Oh nonsense. Blagojevich was convicted on 17 charges of corruption and extortion relating to Obama's senate seat as well as other ways state spending was routed. You can argue the sentence was excessive but there was no railroad on that. Blagojevich was just as crooked and just as corrupt as Kilpatrick was. And just as deserving of his conviction.

Openly considering commuting the sentence for Blagojevic was simply another way of shaming and embarrassing Obama

So it's an embarrassment to lock up crooked politicians these days? Who knew? And it's no embarrassment to pardon those same crooked politicians for political purposes? What a world we live in.

Kwami be butt-hurt, so he be reborn now. Hallelujah brother amen! Lemmeoutahere!

More likely, he be going by Mohammed Kwamistafa now and be studying a different holy book than the Bible.

If he’s got the dirt on Barry like Blago is rumored to have had, he may get a chance.

I am happy to say that I grew up at the very end of Detroit’s “Golden Era”. We left the city in 1965 for the “burbs” and we were among the last (whites) to leave. My memories there are all great but I watched with dread as the city burnt and imploded.

I compare the Demoncratic hold on the city to the Ford family death-grip hold on the Detroit Lions. So long as the grip remains, there will be no winning seasons both for the city and the team...

Did they mention the murder of a female guest, one that was at a party at the mayors mansion, that got into a scuffle with his wife thinking she was getting a little “too close” to him?

...and then the cops that were investigating turn up dead too?

I think Kwame needs to do his time...for what he has been convicted for and all the other things he hasn’t.
