Nukes are the only real green energy.

Right. Because storing nuclear waste is perfectly safe and there's nothing to worry about with that 24,000 year half-life.

Actually I think the locals were right in turning it down.

"free electricity for the life of the wind farm" means that when the company finds it uneconomical to run your electricity stops. A major storm and you would not only be scrambling for energy but have a major mess to clean up.

Me I like my seabirds on the wind. I hate wind energy. It never should have been deployed until it adequately protected the birds & eagles.

Wind turbines are neither clean nor green and they provide zero global energy

Nonsense they wiped out hundreds of American bald eagle population that we’ve been trying to restore for the last 30 years thanks to DDT killing them. I’m not a wacko environmentalist but a conservationist because you have to be if you’re not an idiot right? You have to conserve some of your environment, or else we all die, but I’m not a radical in any way shape or form. However these liberal ideas to save the earth always wind up hurting more than they help.

“This is a classic case of NIMBYism taken to its extremes. Maryland’s liberal elites are all in favor of punishing fossil fuel companies and lecturing everyone on the need for cleaner, more “responsible” energy policies. But when the time comes to actually start generating all of the clean electricity, they don’t want those nasty turbines cluttering the few from the coast.”

They are looking for more of these:

Even in the red state of West Virginia, construction of two natural gas pipelines is being threatened by nimby’s and wacko environmetalists. Further delay would eventually cost fracking jobs in the state and deny needed energy supplies to the east coast. Emotional ideology over economic reality.

Ha ha ha ha ha.

Well, literacy and science aren’t your strong points.
Nor logic.
Nor reason.

Now go back and read what I actually wrote, and not your kooky imaginings. Nowhere did I indicate that flying creatures do not die smacking into windmills.

I pointed out that reproduction rates outstrip the food supply. Its part of nature.

You are asserting outright that this is no longer the case,

Care to show us the source for your brilliant epiphany?

DDT never bothered the eagles. It was mercury that was causing problems. The population declined before DDT was used and went back up while DDT was in use.

The only birds who were affected by DDT at all were the insect eaters and even then it was marginal.

Nobody said windmills were part of nature.

Go back and reread the entire conversation, and this time read all posts in sequence.

I did, don’t get shirty. I know what you were saying. Somehow I did not convey my point. Nature is cruel, chicken eat worm, hawk eat chicken. Animals reproduce enough to replace their losses.

But adding windmills to the equation is not part of Nature and it is a very wasteful way to generate energy. If it wasn’t subsidized it wouldn’t exist. It is not dependable in many of the areas it is placed and we need traditional sources to be the backup. That raises the cost of the back up sources because they are not utilized maximally just part of the overhead.

So I am vehemently against the point of view that the animal loss is negligible and should not be factored into the equation. Millions of slaughtered birds, endangered or not, should not be put at risk, maimed & killed so smug liberals can add a feather to their caps.

To: JayGalt; olezip
If you actually bothered to read what I actually said to begin with, and were not trying to backtrack now while not admitting your error you would be honest enough to admit that I stipulated all the other points olezip made in post eight were valid. Only the notion that windmills reduce the overall fauna significantly was mistaken and that needs to be addressed because the left uses that fallacious reasoning to justify all sorts of authoritarian overreach.

Get shirty? People who attempt to twist what I posted into something else have already gotten shirty. If they are too much of a hypocritical shirtbag to take it in kind they had better stick to addressing only what I actually post.

Apply the same standard to your own posts as you do to other peoples posts and fewer of them will be shirty towards you, Galt

I suggest putting wind farms in Beverly Hills. The residents would love them {sarc} and there is so much hot air the wind mills would be turning forever.

Cosmic ray exposure is a larger dose than fuel rods in a pool of water. Alpha from 239 isn’t a threat unless one sniffs or does a taste test.
