Does it tell me I’m cool not keeping the Torah?

We’re living in Today; and lots of Jewish people DON’T accept Jesus as a personal Messiah, Savior, or spiritual leader.

There are a lot of devout Jews who are our political and ideological ‘confreres’ here on FR. It appears from this thread - and others that I’ve seen - that most of our FRiends of the Jewish persuasion generally tolerate threads like this with good nature; but I’m not sure that they find them truly ‘FRiendly’.

The thread seems deliberately intended to be contentious and provocative. I don’t think that is at all useful in this venue.

Maybe they do see it as contentious. Regarding that, there are those who only see the first five books of the Old Testament as legitimate, and all else unnecessary or misleading. So must I walk on egg shells around them, pretending the rest of the Old Testament as well as the New doesn’t exist? As Jesus said, you don’t light a lamp just to put it under a bowl. If someone doesn’t like it for some reason, it’s not my fault. Light doesn’t illuminate something that’s not there, anyway.

Smith’s Mormon Bible reeks of illustration from my Masonic Bible. I would venture Smith was a Mason starting his own church.

You are stating the Christian belief of what Torah-true Jews believe.

The problem isn’t that our Christian friends don’t know anything about Judaism and Torah...it’s that they no so much that just isn’t so.

I don’t think anyone would be here if they didn’t believe in God, the traditional family, and loyalty to our Country, its Constitution and its founding principles.

If you feel the need to expound on specifics of your personal religious belief, that’s fine; post a friendly vanity. But this thread began as a clear criticism of what Jews believe or don’t believe, and I don’t see the need or usefulness for that.

I think that if you feel you have to ‘walk on eggshells’ in a virtual environment, you’re projecting somewhat. Nobody is offended if you simply post what you believe and say ‘Hallelujah!’.

Alright then. I don’t believe in going out of my way to be offensive either, but I just don’t see the offense. It’s a fact that Jews generally don’t believe Jesus is Messiah, so discussing the reason for it doesn’t seem beyond the pale to me.

Psalm 118:22. “The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
23the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes.”

Well, if the conversation is important at all, maybe it would have been better if the OP simply asked Jews; instead of posting a propagandistic video that starts with the assumption that there is ‘One Simple Reason’ and ‘Jews Are Wrong’.

Jesus would never have developed his philosophy at all, if he hadn’t grown out of a much older and very deep one. Instead of trying to find superficial ‘reasons’ why many Jews didn’t accept Christ, maybe it would be enlightening to actually learn something about Judaism and why it is sufficient to those who hold it sacred.

The number one reason they rejected Jesus was because they were looking for a conquering king to come and reign and they would serve under Him in glory- When Jesus came as a humble servant- They rejected Him

The miracles performed by Jesus were VERY specific and Jewish in nature- so that there was NO way a Jew could deny that He was indeed the Son of God and was fulfilling prophecy- Yet because Jesus didn’t come back and wipe out Israel’s enemies as a conquering king- they Rejected Him

Every Jew at that time knew that what Jesus was performing, in regards to miracles, was a divine fulfillment of prophecy- and the miracles were so steeped in Jewish traditions and customs that they understood the significance of the miracles- yet still they rejected Him- Even the simple miracle of restoring the man’s eyesight with mud had very specific Jewish earmarks to it- We had a Jewish Christian come and teach the significance of Jesus’ miracles to us and it was eye opening just how steeped in Jewish tradition and customs they really were-

There was no doubt He was the Messiah- But the Jews knew they weren’t goi9gn to defeat their enemies and live in a kingdom- and so they rejected Him

How are sins forgiven in the Torah?

Ezekiel 18:21-23 gives a succinct answer to your question:

"It may be that a wicked man gives up his sinful ways and keeps all my laws, doing what is just and right. That man shall live; he shall not die. None of the offenses he has committed shall be remembered against him; he shall live because of his righteous deeds. Have I any desire, says the Lord G-d, for the death of a wicked man? Would I not rather that he should mend his ways and live?"

So sincere REPENTANCE for misdeeds is how Jews are forgiven. When the Temple stood, Jews brought sacrifices to repent for sin. But if they also did not have sincere repentance, their sacrifice meant nothing.

Acts 28:27. “Paul had made this final statement: “The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your ancestors when he said through Isaiah the prophet:

26 “Go to this people and say,
“You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.”
27 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.”

Exactly as I suspected from the start of seeing the title of this post. That "ministry" is nothing more than an organization whose aim is to perpetuate a scam on uneducated Jews who have little background in their heritage. They are a branch of the Messyonic "jews", who for the most part are not Jews at all. Their game plan is to use modified Jewish prayerbooks which have had references to J.C. and Xstian practices added in, to use a lot of Hebrew words in conversations with would-be marks to make them think what the Messyonic is saying is authentic Judaism, to have rabbi-appearing folks lead fake "jewish" services with plenty of Xstian practices and references to J.C. woven in, etc. They claim that one can be a Jew and believe in J.C. This is in direct violation of Torah and absolutely cannot be a part of Judaism. Messyonic "jews" are a cult seeking to hoodwink uneducated Jews. They may use sophisticated techniques to approach would-be marks, but their feeble arguments for their case just don't stand up in the light of day.

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

[[you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.]]

Exactly- Christ fulfilled prophecy right before their eyes and still they did not accept Him- Once again, the bible is spot on about hte reason why they reject Him

27 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes

Willfully rejecting Him despite the overwhelming evidence that He IS the Messiah

How is that different from the many nominal Christians of today?

It’s condemning individuals, it’s not condemning Judaism.

[[The thread seems deliberately intended to be contentious and provocative. I don’t think that is at all useful in this venue.]]

The Spirit listeth where He will- Jews turn to Christ all the time- You never know when God will lift the scales from someone’s eyes so they can see- and you never know just what God will use to do so- discussions have a way of remaining in a person’s mind for years until one day a light goes on- (IE the Spirit reveals the truth)

There is NO such thing called Christianity without the writings of Moses. Genesis 3:15 is the foundation of Christianity. Only half of that first prophecy has been fulfilled. Christ declared in Mark 13:23 “But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.” This was long before any jot or tittle was ever placed on plant fibers or animal skins.

Every individual is given the opportunity to ‘chose’ which path they will follow. There is NO New Testament without the foretelling of all things in what is commonly called the ‘Old Testament’.

The denial of Christ being who He said He was is not a new thing... first recording was by Moses in the Garden of God, called Eden.
