Late Thursday the House passed President Trump's proposal to rescind $15 billion in previously appropriated funding by the government that was never spent.....Lawmakers approved the bill in a narrow 210-206 vote, which was close because 17 Republicans voted against it.
The vote is meant to put conservatives at ease about the huge two-year spending deal lawmakers reached this year, which will increase spending by about $300 billion over that period of time.
President Trump and the White House worked closely with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., on the package, entitled the Spending Cuts to Expired and Unnecessary Programs Act.
"As members, we are charged with being good stewards of taxpayer money. That is a responsibility we all have. It shouldnt be a partisan exercise. And historically, it hasnt been," McCarthy said on the House floor Thursday. "President Trumps spending cut request is a straightforward and smart way to trim a bloated federal budget."
The bill will now move over to the Senate. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., says he is open to considering the bill

Yawnnnnnnnnnn.
It goes to the Senate....
That is enough cost savings to offset a border wall.
Coincidence?
15 out of 300 billion isn’t impressive, and The Turtle seems lukewarm about it.
15 out of 300 is WINNING? Especially since he signed to 300 to start with. BFD
Yeah, but $15 billion here, $15 billion there, pretty soon you’re talking about real money.
SO.... in previous ‘administrations’ , what used to happen to this UNSPENT MONEY ?
Excellent!
Sounds like you’re tired of winning.
Hear, hear, Recision
Test case for more budget cuts.
IN a sense yes, these are funds never put on contract to pay a vendor/grantee etc.. Since the money was old chance of them ever being disbursed was very small, therefore; not really affecting debt/deficit. More of accounting exercise to remove the budgetary amounts from the books.
A move in the right direction. It’s easier to drain a swamp if the water supply cut off.
Build the WALL!!
Rescission was the topic of a thread posted on FR a day after the Ryan Omnibus budget was signed.

Well Ryan basically tried to give away the house in the last democrat funding bill.
The Mitch the Turtle still wants to be minority leader and is not sure if this will torpedo his plans.
