The service AND 'the White House' came to the conclusion that nixing the new units to cool food on the jet makes prudent fiscal sense, Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson wrote in a letter to Rep. Joe Courtney, D-Conn., who sits on the Armed Services Committee.
Even with the understanding that the Air Force One mission brings with it unique requirements and challenges, a $24 million sole-source contract just didnt pass the smell test.....Clearly, the Air Force is making the right decision cancel the previously announced 'sole-source contract' and 'hit restart' on this process,
Boeing was awarded the contract to replace the aging refrigerators but has been notified of the cancellation, according to Wilson.

$24 million refrigerators??
For Trump, that is chump change.
No deal!
I always knew I was in the wrong business.....
It better be solid gold and studded with diamonds.
I thought our new $2,800 fridge was expensive.
No it’s not......you can bet he had a hand in refusing this....if you read the article you note the White House determined to cancel this and restart because ONLY Boeing had submitted as a sole-source contract and hit restart on this process,
Maybe it was countertop depth. Those cost more. The smaller refrigerator costs more than the larger refrigerator. Figure that one out.
They are building two identical Planes.
That makes it only $12,000,000 each. A deal if I ever saw one.
Trump wants a restart for a deal.
Good call.
Trump has good people looking at the books.
I can see the moonbat media now making fun of it.
Obviously Trump isn’t buying it either....
Yea....Reminds me when they quoted billions for the Embassy In Israel.....Trumps not going to have it!
Always the shrewd business man. How long as it been since we’ve had a CEO in charge, not a career politician?
When you’re seven miles up in the air, you should be more concerned about heating your food than about keeping it cool.
Whoever submitted the $24 million “bid” should be charged with fraud.
That’ll put a stop to excessive overcharging, real quick.
Boeing should be shamed for for their outrageous bid on the refrigerators replacement. Or at least it sure appears to be the case. Open the bidding up, someone will do it for far less.
Well if they apply for energy efficiency rebates they will only cost us taxpayers $23,999,000.
So I say they go ahead as it will save us $1,000. Makes good fiscal sense.
Nah...I figure Trump’s just had it with contractors bidding these ridiculous prices. I have a family member that has to work with these gov. contractors bids....he says now that Trumps in charge and ‘changed the rules’ they’re going to be able to save the taxpayer billions in over charged fees. Before they couldn’t do their jobs and get the best deals.
