The California Democratic Party recently adopted its own Nicene Creed. While the Christians profession of faith numbers almost 400 words, Democrats offer a more succinct five: I believe in single payer.
The mantra hits voters focused on Tuesdays elections hard and often. Blah, blah, blah single payer blah, blah, blah single payer blah, blah, blah single payer blah, blah, blah. What sounds surreal today may soon become real.
In the governors race, twelve Democrats race to outdo the others on their absolute, airtight fidelity to a total state takeover of healthcare, which, of course, its proponents never describe in such terms. Instead, sounding as monomaniacal as Henry Georges single taxers, they talk of single payer.
Among Californias gubernatorial candidates, none has been a more exuberant supporter of transitioning to a single-payer, Medicare-for-all health care system than Democratic Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, Joe Garofoli writes in the San Francisco Chronicle. This explains why in the mixed, free-for-all primary featuring more than thirty candidates of diverse parties, the lieutenant governor and former mayor of San Francisco garners a third of all votes, according to the most recent poll.
Its not as though his Democratic opponents do not offer prayers, loudly, at the Church of the Single Payer. Klement Tinaj (Single payer, rent control and quality education for all), John Chiang (I am the only candidate Californians can trust to manage our states finances and get us to single-payer responsibly), Delanie Eastin (Delaine is the only candidate for governor who has been a staunch, unwavering supporter of SB562, the California single-payer healthcare bill from the beginning), Amanda Renteria (Single payer healthcare is exciting, and will profoundly change the lives of all Californians for the better),

I am perfectly happy to let CA go to single payer and see if it works. That’s Federalism. No Federal money should be spent on this, though.
Of course, it won’t work, it will bankrupt the state. And I’m fine with that too.

Great minds think alike :)
May every illegal immigrant make tracks for CA for the freebies.
This ought to hit about the time I retire. What a damn mess.
let the states do what they want....all it will do is force more Californians up into other states unfortunately, and use their ill gotten fat pensions to swamp people of normal means...
I think state financed health care, paid for solely by Kali taxpayers, is a GOOD idea...
(Yeah, it's illegal population will triple, all of them demanding cures for obscure tropical fevers and whatever else they've been infected with in Third World Sh!tholes, and ALL the medical staffs will flee, to other states, where they can get a living wage, when Kali slices all medical fees to poverty levels, but that's a GOOD thing.)
I hope the "People's Republic of California" do this and eliminate ANY private practice for ALL it's denizens "just to show" the rest of the country that socialism works 'with the right kind of population"
Since they know they are our betters.
of course this means those at the top MUST contribute as Marx said "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs
So get ready to pay upwards of 90% of your wealth you 1%ers and remember "No Cheating"
No cutting in line.
No going aboard(or to others states)
And no "private doctors, nurses.
This will be your "utopia' you always claimed America needed. Enjoy!
“Of course, it wont work, single payer will bankrupt the state.”
No matter the level of government, increased or new sources of funding are a constant concern with campaign contributions a close second. The obvious solution of cutting spending never occurs to pols.
Whether at state or federal level, single payer is nothing but a new revenue stream. The mother lode of untapped funding. And any scheme most certainly will have a built-in escalation mechanism.
A politician’s ultimate tax-spend dream may well be built around 100% of our income going to the government. An inverse system to what we know with government determining their deduction to us...”our fair share”.
You can bet on it.
“No Federal money should be spent on this, though”
That’s the problem. Money is fungible. We will be reimbursing the loss of every state that does this.
If they lose money, theyll pull it out of the Federal government (that is, the taxpayers across the rest of the country) via relief for wildfires.
Oh. And since they do that for other things already, watch for climate change to be responsible for a lot more wildfires. In California.
Leftists ruin everything.
Repeating myself——To anyone is Calif who wants to bolt & has horses, I have a nice property for sale in N Nevada. Current taxes are UNDER $700 annually.
