What really ticks me off about this is that they’re still able to buy flood insurance. The Feds decided not to sell this to several towns along the Missouri-Mississippi flood plains, and as a consequence a few towns had to be moved to nearby bluffs, which was better all around. There’s no reason taxpayers should be on the hook for costs incurred by people foolish enough to build on sites of repeated flooding.
