Women’s Studies emphasizes 'activism over academics': My experience at Georgetown University

When I initially decided to take a Women’s and Gender Studies class, I knew that the course readings would be liberal-leaning and overtly feminist. I did not know how open the professors and administrators would be about this 'leftward bias', however.

Right from the very beginning, Women’s and Gender Studies was presented not just as an academic discipline, but as preparation for activism.

Our assigned readings for a class discussion on abortion were both written by pro-choice authors, and the professor made no attempt in class to provide an alternative perspective.

When I attended a portion of the program’s 30th anniversary conference, every professor on the panel seemed to hold the same political and ideological beliefs. When one professor spoke about her initial difficulties in convincing her students that anti-capitalism was a tenet of feminism, her co-panelists and the professors in attendance nodded sympathetically. Not only did they accept that their job was to persuade students to change their beliefs about economic and political systems, but they appeared to be in full agreement about what exactly those beliefs should be.

I agree....many Universities today are just “Leftist Hot Houses”.

We knew long ago that the left was taking over the Educational Systems....about the same time parents no longer attended PTA’s etc. I saw this when my sons were in school and alarmed that so few attended, barely a handful. Today they don’t even exist!

Yep!....this is creating a generation of highly active ‘rebellion among students’.. participating in protests and various other activities which we see every time there is a social or gov. issue the Dems don’t like. They have organized them sufficient enough to send out robo calls to attend.

Remember at the first gun shooting this year when they took to the streets Obama sent out his message......”WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU!”

Obama sent out his message to anti-gun protesters......”WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU!”

That was REALLY creepy.

A friend’s son took a 2 year electronics tech course. He now makes over $100,000 installing and repairing medical equipment at hospitals. A community college degree with no debt. This from a straight A student with a 30 on the ACT, who so many thought was blowing his future. 2 years at the company and he is being trained to be the manager of a region.

Another smart kid I know is about to start an automotive tech program. The kids in the course are being recruited halfway through the program with sign on bonuses when they finish. I am a big fan of these degrees. Little to no debt and a guaranteed job waiting. What’s not to love?

Well THAT I'd leave to my brother.....piece of cake for him. He got the brains in the family ‘genius style’ in maths and science. But even he had to work hard at it in college!

Well the fems have certainly inserted themselves as the lead in these classes....and where they are every other “freak” is sure to insist on equal representation among them.

There was a host of feminist activism In Ireland recently with the passage of overturning their abortion bans..so guaranteed the rest will follow very soon.....

Yes it was...and extremely telling...once again confirming that Obama and his cohorts are actively continuing their agendas and know they control much of the student University bodies.

It’s a wonderful thing and the parents of those kids should be very proud for the choices they made. Good stories!
I’m so excited that Trump is pushing for Vocational Schools...this is going explode once it gets off the ground!..

Eventually these witches end up in the workplace; I work with some female professionals, and some “professional women”. The latter are useless tokens only hired to fend off lawsuits or accompany lonely male bosses; as they move up, they hire more of the same. Oddly enough, they guarantee workers like me a job.

I took a women's study class once for the easy A. It was even easier than I had previously thought. All you had to do was keep a civil and compliant tongue while the teacher spouted her man hating propaganda. The work itself was geared toward a special needs class and I aced every piece of work, quiz, and test up until the final paper.

At which point I could contain myself no longer. I took an obvious A and turned it into a D for the class. The lesbian teacher apparently didn't like how, in my paper, I described the "women's movement" as being comprised of lesbians and that lesbians don't speak for women because they aren't "women", or words to that effect. And other such forms of rebellion against her nefarious brain washing philosophy. Can you believe it?

No, I did not. I admire her for checking it out, and agree with your characterization of Women’s Studies. Sad that the discipline has been so distorted.

Yes, I can believe as you stated that you took a Womans Studies course for an easy A.

Glad to hear that......and we can all be grateful to the students who are unafraid to expose this ‘stuff’.

Intro to College Writing in most college and university settings is an exercise in leftist feminist and gender readings.
