One of the most visible Parkland activists is calling for a "die-in" at Publix supermarkets Friday to protest its donations to Florida gubernatorial candidate Adam Putnam, whose pro-gun stance gets him a top rating from the National Rifle Association.
David Hogg, who helped galvanize the "March for Our Lives" movement after the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, told his 799,000 Twitter followers on Wednesday they should "die in" at Publix stores. It entails lying on the ground inside supermarkets for 12 minutes at 4 p.m. Friday.

Publix Supermarkets, which is a family owned huge business, started in FL by the Jenkins family, has been a huge supporter of the Boys Scouts of America ( the original Boy Scouts) as well as the Girl Scouts and supporting many other philanthropic efforts (including Hospice Care centers they have built all over FL— top quality dignity centers, which they stock with food products for families with members in the hospices). The Jenkins Family is a FL legend in Leadership, buying FL agriculture products direct from FL farmers (organic and otherwise).
Adam Putnam was (and is) the FL Secretary of Agriculture. As such the Dept. of Agriculture maintains and monitors the Concealed Carry licensure of Floridians who must pass the required background checks (federal and state) and a CCW course, and must also renew their application as required by law to continue to conceal carry a weapon (firearms and other described).
Hogg is a little “wuss” nobody, who is apparently “queer” and a early retired FBI agent’s kid, with a theatrical career as his stated goal. In short— a showbiz gay boy. One can see how this interacts with his political grandstanding showboat “demonstrations” in conflict with firearm owners, and a prominent young politician who has defended Floridian’s rights to keep and bear arms.
The farming/ranching values that the State of Florida has traditionally held since it was a Territory of the US after being ceded to the US by Spain in 1822 and then achieving statehood in 1845 has been upheld by the generations of descendants of these pioneering families, still living in FL and running major industries, agriculture being the second largest only to tourism (which is where the “showbiz” political spectrum makes itself known, in constant opposition to people who are neither tourists nor actors).
A history not unlike the West, of armed self-protection against wild animals, individuals and groups (foreign and domestic). It is not a State whose people are going to give up firearms, considering the very freedoms valued over its history.
The problem is with certain counties in the State- who think, they are like New England, or Chicago or NYC (because they are populated by transplants who 1) want to tell Natives how to live, and tax the crap out of them for social services and 2)continue like all liberals to maintain a supercilious holier than thou superiority over people trying to make a living, raise their children and live free (most importantly these newbie lib try to create the same s-holes they ruined in the first place and have moved on the FL to “make it better”— that sort of political crowd). FL still has the death penalty, and exercises it regularly along with many other powerful incentives against criminal behaviour (except, obviously in Broward County, where Hogg- having come from Venice, CA, thinks that the sun and temperature means FL is CA— it’s not). Tourism, and specifically Disney World (ABC-TV) has done much to ruin a beautiful state. A dumping ground for criminals, and the libs who protect them. People here have had enough of Hogg.
