North Korea 'preparing to hide nuclear arsenal in remote mountain province'

North Korea has designated remote Chagang Province as a Special Songun [military-first] Revolutionary Zone, fuelling suspicions that the region is being turned into a mountain redoubt for the regime’s atomic weapons and missile programmes despite Pyongyang’s promises to scrap its nuclear arsenal.

Officials of the Ministry of State Security were informed of the new designation in April, the Seoul-based Daily NK news outlet reported, quoting a high-ranking source in Pyongyang.

The region will become “a strategic foothold for the military in the face of modern warfare”, the source said, adding that the ministry had decreed “the project must go forward without any issues because Kim Jong-un was doing it out of respect for his father’s and grandfather’s legacies”.

Covering more than 6,400 square miles on North Korea’s border with China, fully 98 percent of Chagang is mountainous, meaning it is relatively sparsely populated and has plenty of opportunities for underground excavations to conceal stockpiles of weapons and facilities to conduct further research....

The reality is that China has done something. So letting North Korea hide something is fine. There is no part of NK that our military isn’t watching. NK is very small. We can easily watch the whole thing. And by the way. We can have computers watch it for us with video play back of every day on the roads and rails and sea.

The big question is what China wants. They want us out of there. China would like the US military out of Asia and far from them. Even though we have been protecting China as much as anyone. China is generally defensive. And they don’t like military near their boarders. China would like the US to leave the western pacific so they can be the protectorate.

In the past China wanted the US to pay for NK’s upkeep. And our presidents gladly paid for peace. But now they can easily do it themselves. So the US should let NK and Chinia work it out. NK will realize that China is not the partner they want. China is probably offering a Hong Kong type arrangement. We are offering a South Korea type arrangement.

That’s OK - we’re about to starve them out. Even the ruling class (esp the ruling class).

I was in charge of watching three North Korean Army corps during my second tour there and analyzing their movement and intentions for the division commander and his staff. My job during my first tour was early-warning analyst of the riskiest part of the DMZ, across from the routes to Seoul. I might as well have served during the Spanish-American War compared to the technology available today, but I’m very familiar with the place.

I imagine you don’t see too many stray dogs, cats, rats or most other animals there anymore as it is. The South Korean elders eat dog for medicinal purposes, I don’t think the North Koreans have that luxury.

It seems obvious that this didn’t start this morning when Trump cancelled the meet, it should equally obvious that we knew about and the cancellation is a message to KJU that we have the means to know everything they are doing.

Perhaps time for another tungsten caused ‘earthquake’ in a remote NK mountain hideaway?

Yep - one must wonder if China is meddling and giving them a bit of blustery “courage”.....either way, it behooves the Norks to get with Trump’s program if they want to survive and eventually flourish. Moon of the South seems too eager to allow the Norks some sort of leeway...the rest of the world will also try to sway trump but he is doubling down on the pain he is willing to inflict to bring Kim to heel.....

Who had his brains splattered on the wall? The foreign minister’s statement sounded like a coup had taken place. Has anyone seen Short Fat lately.

Remedy:

The GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) is a U.S. Air Force, precision-guided, 30,000-pound (14,000 kg) “bunker buster” bomb. This is substantially larger than the deepest penetrating bunker busters previously available, the 5,000-pound (2,300 kg) GBU-28 and GBU-37. Wikipedia

MOAB, the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used by the US military, explained. The US military has just dropped a big bomb in Afghanistan. The GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast, also called the “mother of all bombs” or MOAB for short, is the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used by the US military on the battlefield.Apr 14, 2017

We either negotiate denuclearization or we eliminate the threat militarily.

Yes, its getting down to a binary situation.
