Former FBI director James Comey on Wednesday slammed President Trump's recent claims about the FBI, accusing him of “lying” about the bureau's work.
Comey’s tweets comes as Trump has intensified his attacks on the agency in recent days, claiming without evidence that the FBI placed an informant within his campaign for political purposes.
"Facts matter. The FBI’s use of Confidential Human Sources (the actual term) is tightly regulated and essential to protecting the country. Attacks on the FBI and lying about its work will do lasting damage to our country. How will Republicans explain this to their grandchildren?"
"Dangerous time when our country is led by those who will lie about anything, backed by those who will believe anything, based on information from media sources that will say anything. Americans must break out of that bubble and seek truth."

First deny it, and then when that doesn’t work, make excuses. I’ve had it with that sanctimonious SOB. He belongs in federal prison. He spied on the Trump campaign without the candidate’s consent.
How will I? Trump was elected despite the evil Obama administration spying on him. He perverted the FBI for political purposes. Yet Trump won and arrested them all despite great odds. God must have blessed America again in it’s hour of need.

How soon are we going to see claims made that the FBI also planted a “spy” in the Clinton campaign to protect it from Russian spies as well. This will definitely require tons of popcorn to see these folks spin that tall tale!
Facts matter? Innocent people do not respond this way, and Mister Comey, of all people, should know this quite well. Comey's biggest worry is that facts are becoming known.

I’d simply tell them that the FBI went through a period of great corruption, a period when it tried to influence political events.
