U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and their maritime counterparts seized 284 pounds of fentanyl between Oct. 1, 2017, and April 30.
“There is a crisis at our southwest border — large quantities of dangerous and illicit drugs, such as fentanyl, are pouring into our country in record numbers," DHS spokeswoman Katie Waldman told the Washington Examiner.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opiate painkiller and is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

This, and the associated statistics as to the number of deaths caused by fentanyl should be brought up when the left claims that Republicans do not care about the deaths of children in schools from mass shootings. Fentanyl kills many many many more people annually then guns at schools and the problem is far more widespread. But Democrats who will not fund the wall, never mind their complete inability to even listen to the solutions offered by Republicans for greater security at schools, are the caring ones. Of course. Yes. Now I don't know what I don't know about pain mgt and or alternatives to drugs. Like many I am aware of message, chiropractic, physical therapy, these pain blocking implants etc. FWIW PDJT has the bully pulpit minus the fake news. Will an alternative be promoted with all I mentioned and more ( possibly marijuana based salves to be applied topically, I hear they exist for example ) and or revive old pain meds that Obama pretty much obliterated from what I read to come up with a new template for a solution to the complex problem?

another problem is that the counterfeiters use pill presses that are the shape of other drugs that people abuse.
So they think they have Xanax, for example and instead they have fentanyl. They take three and die.
