If I were 15 and facing the prospect that everything I earn above subsistence was going to be confiscated by the government (uhhh, even more than taxation, let's say) then it would be a moment of true introspection. Why bother working hard if you know you can't keep any? Why study? Why get a job at all? Might as well just become a sponge.

This fine is ridiculous. Apparently the act wasn't malicious or intentional, just stupid. Why push him to a life of indolence over it when ultimately even if he worked his tail off the money he paid would be a pittance?

That is how I feel. I could have been that stupid kid. Hell, I WAS that stupid kid without the massive damage...just lucky.
