Happy to see the Atlantic admit the truth for a change; i.e. President Trump has the authority to initiate an investigation. But my gosh, that article is circuitous and reads like the same "He's attacking Mueller" rhetoric we've been hearing from every liberal rag.

My goodness the lies in that article:

".... I don’t believe Attorney General Jeff Sessions (who is recused, in any event) would carry it out. I also do not believe that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein would do so. And I’m quite certain that FBI Director Chris Wray would never be able to look an FBI agent in the face again if he allowed an investigation to be opened improperly (the FBI does not open investigations without a genuine reason to believe a crime may have been committed)—particularly not an investigation following political pressure to out an FBI informant who provided information in the context of a counterintelligence investigation that was properly predicated..."

That’s a good poignant article and deserves a thread of its own.

Everybody knows what ‘good’ means, ‘poignant’ though is often misused. In this case it means an inevitable and profound sadness.

While it’s good and well written it immediately assumes Trump is self serving his own interest by ordering investigations into illegal spying. A point that the author profoundly pushes and even goes as far as to tell us what the pushback is going to look like. ... heading to a saturday massacre where Rosenstein, Sessions are fired because they refuse to respect the power and rights of the executive It’s unclear with what Wray would do.

Finally, the article is poignant in that it fails to recognize the fact that the past is the prologue. We are here at this very point at this moment because the previous administration drove us here.
