Albino five-year-old girl is snatched in front of her mother and found decapitated after ritual murder for her 'magical' body parts in Mali

Armed men abducted Djeneba Diarra from her family home in Fana village, Mali

Her mother pursued kidnappers but turned back to protect second alblino child

Police launched a hunt and later found the five-year-old's decapitated body

Killing was feared to be part of a ritual murder for supposedly magic body parts

A five-year-old albino girl has been snatched and beheaded after a ritual murder for her body parts, which are deemed magical in Mali.

Armed men abducted Djeneba Diarra from her family's home in Fana village, 78 miles north of Mali's capital, Bamako, as the child.

Police said she was sleeping in the courtyard with her mother and her sister when kidnappers struck.

The girl's mother at first tried to pursue the kidnappers, who scaled a wall with her child, but then turned back to protect her second daughter, also an albino.

'We searched for the little girl everywhere. We found her body beside a mosque, but she had no head,' said a village teacher, Oumar Diakite.

Blaming a lack of security for the killing, angry local residents on Sunday partially burned down the paramilitary police headquarters in Fana, according to several witnesses.

'We demand justice. Her head was taken. This is a ritual crime,' activist Mamadou Sissoko told AFP after going to the scene.

Sissoko, the general secretary of the Federation of Associations of Persons with Albinism in West Africa (FAPAO), pointed out the link between crimes against albinos and political events, ahead of Mali's presidential election on July 29.

Only 100 years? I think you understated the case.

“We found her body beside a mosque,“

Sheer coincidence, I’m sure.

Okay, now you’ve committed the unforgivable crime of refuting the holy writ of all socialists, communists, globalists, and members of the Democrat Party.

It’s astonishing that any reasonable family would be a proud Democrat family given the Democrat Party’s willful destruction of society.

Thankfully I haven't heard of this spilling over into Western countries

the plight of albinos in Africa is horrific, yes

The problem is that SUB-SAHARAN Africa never managed to get past the tribal stage before the 1800s.

The reason is that they had no domesticable crops or animals before Arab and Indian traders in the 8th century.

So the cultural levels for large parts in 1800 were the same as Europe's in 200 BC. For some parts like the Ghana empire etc. the cultural/civilizational level were similar to Europe's in 600 AD

The problem has been that the cultural/civilizational development was lagging and since independence they haven't developed their own culture or civilization (with the notable exceptions of SENEGAL and BOTSWANA and maybe Kenya) and have made eurasian culture/civilization taboo (thanks to western liberals)

90% of Mali are Muslim, 9% are a mix of animism and Islam.

The odds are very likely that this unfortunate girl was Muslim and also that the perpetrators were Muslim-animist syncretists.

My daughter is young and has some liberal ideas. She asked me once where Africa would be culturally and technology wise if the Europeans hadn’t colonized it. I told her about 100 years behind where they are now and to prove it, I only have to show her articles like this.

To answer her, you need to point out that "Africa" is a number of different entities at different states of development and there are 5 different races in Africa. Let's take this one by one:

  1. Caucasians in North Africa (Afro-Asiatic speakers like Arabs, Jews, Egyptians, Berbers): The North Africans and Mediterraneans are part of one civilization (until Islam split it) - their cultural and civilizational levels were the same as Europe until the 1700s. They were colonized by Europeans only from the late 1800s. If there was no European colonization, they would be at the same level they are now

  2. Khoi-San/Bushmen/hottentot: these people are a completely different race from black Africans (Negroid peoples) - completely different. In fact Negroid peoples have more in common with Caucasians than they have with Khoi-San. The Khoi-san split off from the rest of humanity quite early. Their civilizational level was hunter-gather and has remained that way. They were racially discriminated against by the negroid peoples who migrated south around the 13th century and the Khoi-san were pushed into the Kalahari and some merged with the negroid folks -- the !Xhosa (Nelson Mandela's tribe) for instance. The Khoi-san civilization was not in the least bit affected by European colonization (they were treated like animals yes, but their civilizational development was not affected)

  3. Malagasy/Madagascar people: these are actually austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) people related to people in Borneo who migrated there around 500 AD. Their civilizational level was at the large clan levelsinitially but then in the 7th century Omani traders came and later in the 8th and 9th century therecame another wave from Java -- these were Indianised Malays i.e. the Tamilian indians had set up kingdoms in what is now indonesia-Malaysia and brought hinduism to these places and these now spread to Madagascar. They formed kingdoms. If the French had not conquered the lands, they would be a united kingdom (they were heading that way under King Radama I. They HAD a functioning centralized kingdom that was progressive until the French brutally occupied the country in 1895 - so if the French had not done this, Madagascar would be in a better position today if no European colonization

  4. pygmies - these are a different race from Negroids. They were jungle people living in the Congo and were brutalized by the Negroid people to such an extent that they were kept as slaves by blacks and their languages were destroyed utterly. No change with the onset of French colonialism as these people had already been colonized and enslaved by the black peoples

  5. Negroid peoples:
    1. Some like the west Africans and northern east africans were conquered by Muslim Arabs or berbers and initially enslaved, then converted. Their civilizational levels before European colonization in the 1800s were about the same levels as Europe in the 1400s - a number of different states, some notably more organized, others little more than confederations. European colonization in places like Senegal delayed their progress by decades but Euroepan colonization in the rest of sub-Saharan africa sped up their civilizing
    2. Some were still clans, not yet nations, and these were south of the Congo, the Zulus being a notable example. European rule stalled the civilizational development and these now are stuck in limbo
    3. Some were still in a tribal or pre-tribal state and these were in the jungle areas of the Congo. European colonization was bad as the Belgians and French treated them as animals (King Leopold of Belgium killed 10 million congolese while raping their country) - pure exploitation with no benefit and giving stone-age peoples guns

So, as you see, it is a mixed bag. Some places were not affected, some were, as you say 100 years behind, some places like Botswana, Senegal and Kenya have actually uplifted themselves (the first two have very non-corrupt progressive civil societies), some would have been 1000 years behind or more.

Africa was sparsely populated by tribal hunter-gatherers before European colonization. Average life expectancy was about 25. Tribal wars were common, which in modern Africa continues in the form of frequent ethnic cleansings.

That is so not true about all of Africa - see my post above. you can't generalize all of Africa that way

To North and East Africa Europeans were not the first to bring paved roads, vehicles or running water

the whiteman's rule was not good in all places -- congo is an example in which the white man's rule was horrific, brutal. you can add in the German colony in Namibia when they committed genocide against the Herero people in the 1800s. European rule in East Africa was good on average, but these places had already received some civilization from Arabs and Indians

They have no past great civilizations other than Egypt. They had no written language or history and until the white men came, no concept of mathematics other than 2+1=more.

False: beside Egypt, you had the Nubian civilization (influenced by pre-dynastic Egypt but they developed on their own), which was in northern Sudan -- remember that the Sudanese were Christians from the 2nd century until the 11th when the faith was finally extinguished by Arabs -- you can see great works of Christian art in the Galeria Faras in the national museum in warsaw, Poland

also the Ethiopian civilization -- Ethiopians were civilized from at least 1000 BC -- well before much of Europe except Greece. They had their own writing system, cities, roads, etc.

The Garamantian civilization of the Berbers - remember that the Berbers had great civilizations, one of which even threatened Rome - read about Jugurtha and how he kept paying off roman generals.

Then you had the Carthagian colonies - granted, spread by the phoenicians

in fact remember that the Berbers and Egyptians are technically "white men" i.e. Caucasian

------------------
All of these civilizations in the north and the east had concept of Mathematics well before europe
------------------------

Sub-Saharan Africa - well before white men, you had arab and Indian traders and conquerors and you had large kingdoms and Empires in west and East Africa. And yes, they had a well developed concept of mathematics before the white man

you are talking about a sub-set in west africa (from nigeria south) and north of RSA.

The whole of Africa was better off under Colonialism. The anti-Colonists were mostly forces that have brought back Africa to its roots of barbaric tendency. If every former colony could be like the USA that would be magnificent but that has never been replicated. I don’t condone colonial brutality and lack of human rights but some cultures are a direct threat to themselves and advanced rapidly with outside western influence.

that is false. See my post above - the North Africans and Madagascar folks (Malagasy) were better off without forced colonial rule

you cannot compare the USA as a colony to any African colony -- the USA was a settlement colony: the majority of native Americans died before the Mayflower due to Eurasian diseases like smallpox etc to which they were not immune. the USA's colonization was whole-sale population replacement who brought the already developed Eurasian civilization (since they WERE Eurasians). Africa was different - and the colonization in Africa was only from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s

The White man's rule in Congo was Nazi-level bad

Your point is correct about many sub-saharan countries from nNigeria south, but you run against the exception of Botswana and to some extent Kenya

Two of my good friends grew up near Bamako as missionary kids. They have some pretty harrowing stories.

You’re right, the enemy can and does attack directly.
