Unfortunately peer pressure is a powerful thing in the American black community. It is a cultural hurdle to overcome, and one put in place by the welfare nanny state. Need I reference LBJ’s infamous statement?
I have worked with engineers from Africa and the Caribbean. Most want nothing to do with the victim culture.

I would imagine that Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, and Clarence Thomas would not want much to do with the victim culture either.

People who are culturally-middle-class, with the associated values which result in success, have more in common with each other than with members of the underclass who happen to share their skin color.
