The boys lacrosse season has been canceled at Haddonfield Memorial High School following an alleged racial slur incident, school officials announced on Friday.
The school says an investigation began after a Haddonfield student allegedly used a racial slur directed toward a female athlete visiting the school. --SNIP-- Diversity, sensitivity, and empathy training will be conducted for all students, staff, coaches and sports teams, the school added.

I disagree. The hysteria surrounding this shows that kowtowing to the "young lady" would have had as much effect as Starbuck did apologizing to the "young men".
Collective guilt is unfair.
What happened to “FREEDOM OF SPEECH” in America? We all know what happened and it get’s worse with each passing day. Special rights for special people.
We had planned the outing for weeks and twelve boys said they would attend. We even had signed permission slips from the parents.
Well, on the morning when we were to gather in the church parking lot to leave for the trip, my son and only two other boys showed up, instead of the twelve who had signed on.
So the other leader said, "I guess we'll have to cancel."
I retorted, "No, we're not cancelling the trip because nine boys decided not to show up. This campout is for these three boys who want to go, not those that don't."
So with three enthusiastic scouts and two leaders we went on the camping excursion as planned. We had a wonderful time. The three boys didn't stop talking about how much fun they had and all the things they learned on the outing. We could tell the other boys regretted not going. We had a much bigger turnout for the second camping trip, needless to say.
As in this experience and in life in general, focus on those who want to participate, not those that don't.
See my comment #44 below.
This is why high school teachers and coaches should be armed. The lacrosse coach could have simply shot the offending player and ended the incident before it escalated.
I grew up in a town very close to Haddonfield.
That kind of language would not be commonly used in that town. You are right that it is rather an exclusive area, with one of the best public school systems in the state.
Most likely the teenage knucklehead was trying to show off how tough he was.
I dont think that the season should be canceled, but I have no problem with the student being punished.
That’s a great story. Glad you had a fantastic time.
Lol
I have no idea what you mean. Put down the bottle or crack pipe for a minute and comment again :-)
They make a bad situation worse by overreacting and jumping the shark.
——————————————————————————————’And when they do that...it makes kids really dislike, hate the people who make the decision to punish everyone.
Why are these supposedly smarter than us so stupid.
Which one of the punished kids is going to say...WOW, I’m not going to think evil thoughts about this.
The schools’ personnel are responsible for more hate than if they would just STHU.
I agree. But it should be DAILY sensitivity training from the day of birth to the moment of death. Only that would be right.
That’s right. Close all schools on the planet for 16 eons.
