I wish there was a lot more “Sicilian temper” directed at the appropriate things.
Why stop at just the one team? Close down the entire school district for the remainder of the school year and cancel all sports for 5 years. Makes about as much sense over one kid’s mouth.
If I were parents of athletes on the team in line for scholarships, I would sue the pants off the district.
In the eyes of progressives, white males have been particularly resistant to class consciousness. They refuse to understand that what is done to one member of another class is done to all and what is done by one member of the white male class is done by all. If, however, you are a minority class, and therefore class conscious, you will be treated as an individual if you do something wrong. Is that clear, comrade, or do you require re-educating further?

When you listen to the report there was one reason why this escalated and that was because the HEAD COACH, who could have made a huge difference in this, DID NOT try to get his kid to apologize.
Regardless of all the diversity silliness, if we haven’t learned by now that the “N” word is PRETTY FUCKIN STUPID to use (and NO, I don’t give a crap that it’s used by blacks themselves or in rap music or anything else, I worry about what I say to people), and certainly at a suburban school by the lacrosse team, we haven’t been paying attention to anything. This girl was INVITED on campus for an athletic competition and COMMON COURTESY means you treat your GUESTS well.
The head coach is Damon Legato and he is well known in his area as a leader in the lacrosse community and I’m SURE he knows better than to let this stand. It certainly sounds from the young lady interviewed that an apology would have been accepted but because he handled it wrong she escalated it.
I teach my son there’s two types of accidents . . . one that happens no matter what you do and one where you put yourself in position for something stupid to happen to you. Anyone care to guess which one this is?
The season is already nearly over anyhow as I look at their schedule and they were not highly ranked even in their state’s location so this was an easy ‘get’ for the administration of the school.
And I suspect Coach Legato will be the sacrificial lamb for this. I can’t believe there are still smart white kids out there that can be this STUPID.
And I’m very dismayed that so many here prefer to take this in the direction of diversity policy silliness and not look that young man in the eye and say:
“Where are your manners son?”
I agree, dp0622. Our tribal allies in the northeast and east should never have let those ships from Europe land. Should have stopped them then.
It’s so unfair that the entire team is punished.
We could have never defeated The nazis, put a man on the moon, or invented nuclear power without diversity. Just look at some pictures of the men and women of all races who did this things and .... hmmm, they only took pictures of the white males. Hmmm....
