Being from and having roamed and hunted the East Tennessee mountains for most of my life (69 years), I can tell you black bears do not hibernate all winter anyway...They may be down a for a couple of weeks, then up for a day or two, then back down...

I’ve seen them walking around in 8 inches of snow...

And contrary to the biased NYT AGW alarmism, the issue of bears hibernating all winter is manifestly debatable .
