.Removing the Exchange Place monument commemorating the victims of a World War II massacre would "undermine the friendship and alliance between Poland and America," according to another lawsuit filed to stop the plan to relocate the statue. The Katyn Forest Massacre Memorial Committee, which oversees the 34-foot monument, filed the lawsuit in Superior Court on Tuesday seeking to halt plans to relocate the statue so a developer can build a park in its place.

Behind the monument you can see NYC skyline with World Trade Center.
And the monument was placed there 1991. I remember passing on the light rail in the months after 9/11 and see the Pit smoldering in the distance behind the monument.

Why not build the park around the memorial. Build a shop close by and sell some beautiful Polish dinnerware, beautiful hand-worked items. What a great attraction it would make in a park.

I don’t like the idea of statues commemorating European history in America. We don’t need a holocaust museum in DC, we don’t need a katyn forest monument, we don’t need a Lenin statue in Seattle, we don’t need a Trafalgar Monument, etc. America has more than enough things we need to commemorate. And Americas eyes should not be dragged in the direction of Europe anyway. We left that place for a reason.

Once again we see that when leftists start the ball rolling in their own agenda, it spreads like wildfire across the land. But they don’t care what the results of others are as long as they accomplish their own goals.
