(snip)

“A Wrinkle in Time” hit US theaters on March 9 after heavy marketing promotion by Disney and abundant media appearances by cast members like Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon, and director Ava DuVernay.

The movie bombed. It made $33 million in its opening weekend, compared to $202 million by “Black Panther” and $258 million for “Avengers: Infinity War.” It has grossed just $126.8 million globally to date, according to Box Office Mojo and confirmed by Disney.

Disney should learn from this. Take a beloved story and fill it with New Age/progressive crap, and there will be hell to pay.

"Spinner" Disney must truly be impressed!

Could not entice me with a new Disney movie. Their heyday has long passed. The Lion King was the last decent movie seen from that studio. Would rather plug in a tape or DVD in order to view Mary Poppins, Lady and the Tramp, or a long ago favorite: “Fantasia”.

Walt Disney is nothing but a burned, bummed out studio that now gives us nothing but crap.

Poor Walt. He deserves much better for HIS legacy.

LOL! So much for "Gurl Power." This might ruin Oprah's hopes for the Presidency in 2020.

By the way, this did much better than Tomb Raider (Lara Croft), which made a staggering $57 million in US box office.

Yep, turns out, nobody wanted to go see Oprah spew new age pablum in that movie.

The Last Jedi was also a flop ... at least compared to what they expected, and in terms of return on investment after production and marketing costs.

Heads should roll, but the SJWs won't let them.

Madeleine L’Engle is a favorite Christians children’s author of mine ... they took all her references to a Christian god but left in her references to other religions. they de Christianized the story. I plan on watching it one day but decided that it will have to wait to a point in time where Disney does not feel it was rewarded for this travesty. big problem with any movie made from any Christian author who deals in the philosophical when you remove all vestiges of a judeo Christian belief system.

I would suggest that after the 1983 Return of the Jedi...their best was done and the story was wrapped up. Nothing after that point matched the ‘magic’ of the first three films/stories.

On Wrinkle in Time...it was probably worth doing for teenage semi-science fiction piece and maybe spending $25-million (max). The idea that they’d make some epic piece and it’d be talked about for years to come? No...it just wasn’t an epic movie (as a story, maybe yes). I think the studio will go and ask more questions in the future when someone comes up with some ‘epic-talk’ and wants a movie done for more than 50-million.

Not only did they lose at the box office because they gutted the story, they lost all future DVD and streaming revenue.

I will admit I was wrong about A Wrinkle in Time. I thought that no matter how bad it was it would still make money. I guess it was to much for even the shallow crowd.

I was not even aware that another “Tomb Raider” was made. The one they made way back in 2001 was actually pretty good.

I’m surprised it made so much money. I wouldn’t even watch it for free.
