Someone had posted the Moore article as if it were today. It actually was over a decade ago. Let’s find another part of the Trifecta.
Most of these bodyguards are retired police officers, and are protected by LEOSA. Apparently this one wasn’t retired police.

A resident of Pennsylvania who is flying to Florida should be able to travel to JFK, with his unloaded firearm in a case in his trunk, take it to the counter, fill out the forms and fly with it as checked baggage - despite NY and NJ law.
Provided that it is legal for him to possess the firearm in both PA and FL.
The NY Port Authority Police (who handle security at all the NY area airports, including Newark), routinely arrest and charge lawful gun owners for violating local laws that are explicitly preempted by federal law.
