Rare German STG 44 Sturmgeweer is saved by cops during a neighborhood buy-back program, just in time before it was to be destroyed.
Full Auto! The police are allowing her to sell it to a museum.
Unregistered machine gun?
Sturmgewehr
Crazy! She could have sold it for a lot of money. Nobody is going to use it to commit a crime anyway. Whens the last time you heard of a 7-11 being robbed by somebody with a luger? It simply doesnt happen with collectibles like that.
If I’m not mistaken, this story is a few years old.
WUT? Come on. There are gun battles in the south side of chiraq every weekend with full auto Thompsons. At least that’s what you would believe if you’re a big anti gun nut.
Dad is probably rolling over in his grave at his gullible, PC idiot daughter who gave away his trophy for going through hell at the Battle of Bulge or Hurtgen Forest.
$30 - $40K dollars
Many years ago, one of my coworkers sold me the Nazi-marked Walther PPK his father brought home from WW2. In the original holster. 99% condition. All matching.
For $300....
Towards the end of the video, the police mention that they gave the gun back to the woman to sell to a museum.
You may be right. People troll LL often by posting older news as happening today.
Not charging her with possession of an unlicensed machine gun and letting her profit from it’s sale isn’t the mindset of culture today.
It it is hard to get ammo for it, anyway. Uses 7.92 Kurz IIRC. You don’t see that in the gun store!
Key to that price is....”many years ago.”
If she gave it to me I’d go through all the troubloe it takes to get a Class III license just to be able to keep it. Then I’d have to find some ammo for it!! Might end up making friends with lots of cops and BATFE people (not joking) in the course of that quest. Of course, in return, I might have to give them all a chanced to shoot it.
AT LEAST your colleague sold it to someone who appreciated its provenance, historical significance, and would keep and preserve it.
The idiot in this story is no doubt a guilt-ridden leftist who has no interest or concern about her father's experience, believes that "gun buybacks" aren't just pure idiocy, and who gave it up to government bureaucrats for destruction. ARGGHH!
If Im not mistaken, this story is a few years old.

There was a similar story a year or two ago, but it involved a weapon in pretty bad condition. This one looks like it was carefully cared for and is in good to excellent shooting condition.
The police are allowing her to sell it to a museum.
Good luck with that. It isnt possible under the GCA of 1968.

Liveleak?
I remember years ago reading of a woman who brought in her husband’s WW I rifle and a 1911 handgun to a gun turn in.
A cop on duty recognized the value of the weapons and told her to sell them to a dealer in vintage firearms.
The cop was disciplined because he let a historical rifle and pistol escape the shredder.
Even in the '90s, it was a steal. :-)
No sir. Back then it was legal to bring back ‘war trophies”. Those guns are exempted.
