An Old fashioned, family values teacher is not likely to get a position in many schools. So, you often get new age, ungodly people in charge of your kids with your tax $. The voucher system would have more constitutional respect for freedom of religion, including the doctrines taught. Much of the downfall was getting federal programs involved in education. A lot of donkeys and elephants eating up the local green stuff.
