A lot of the early lynchings were of Republicans.
The crime in lynching was primarily that the guilty party was deprived of his Constitutional rights to due process. I'm sure there were instances when a innocent person may have been lynched. But for the majority of cases there is usually a body of strong evidence that the lynched party was guilty.
Let’s look at more recent history, such as the case of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom. Warning, it’s sickening beyond belief. It didn’t get much publicity, of course.
I daresay more Black on white murders is >> than black lynchings.
The History Channel was to air a series on reconstruction in Texas...Did not go past the first episode before it was cancelled.

I never read about a historic monument that is being allowed to stand these days without someone suggesting that a college professor be paid to create a plaque to place the monument “in context.”

In the history of the world people of all race, creed, and colors have been enslaved. Atrocities of all kinds have happened, people have not only been lynched but butchered by armies and rulers of all stripes.
