During the Vietnam war I was in the Coast Guard and served in Hawaii for two years, Miami, FL for two months and 19 months in San Juan Puerto Rico. during my college years,I had a hard time looking the combat vet in the eye. the only action I saw was bar room fights.

My dad was “Radar” in the 8th Air Corps in North Africa and the Pacific. He never fired his weapon. His friends were all envious of him.
Our next door neighbor was a B-17 pilot and saw his own brother get killed in a raid over Germany.
