WASHINGTON - U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday defended his decision not to appoint a second special prosecutor to investigate Republicans concerns about the FBI by noting that Special Counsel Robert Muellers Russia probe had already taken on a life of its own.
U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions testifies before a Senate Appropriations Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee hearing on the proposed budget estimates for the Justice Department, on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S., April 25, 2018. REUTERS/Yuri Gripas Speaking to a U.S. House appropriations panel during a routine budget hearing, Sessions told lawmakers that the Justice Department needed to be disciplined and stay within our classical procedure and rules before rushing to hire more special counsels.
I do not think we need to willy-nilly appoint special counsels, he said, after listening to a laundry list of frustrations aired by West Virginia Republican Congressman Evan Jenkins.
As we can see, it can really take on a life of its own.

I’m not sure I follow that logic. It’s like saying sure, we’re in the middle of a war but America doesn’t need an army because that German army has gotten completely out of control.
Add in Cambodia and Laos, and three million were killed by the Communists, with thousands drowning in South China Sea trying to escape.
One thing I can say about Sessions, he is very aggressive about defending his ineria.
Silly me; I actually thought this thime that Trump’s Sessions-bashing comments, going as far as they did, would be dispositive. But I just had a cultist from the TRUST SESSIONS cabal explain that it was all kabuki theater.
It’s insanity. No more graceful or tactful way to say it; it’s barking mad moonbat insanity.
The old boy’s brilliant I tellya.......
They're all huddled over in their safe-space Qook threads. Celebrating their decoded secret knowledge via images on burnt toast, and helping Trump find the pedophiles and satanists under their beds.
And chanting "Trust Sessions!"
Exactly!
People are constantly going on about what the President should do, but few stop to realize that SESSIONS is in charge of the Justice Department, and that it's HIS responsibility to shake out the swamp things and coup conspirators corrupting the place!
Here, Jeff. Have a nice warm mug of Qvaltine and go back to your nap.
There, there.....there, there....
This man is useless as Attorney General. Absolutely useless.

I disagree. He’s very useful to the enemies of our President, our country and us.
If he had the slightest drop of integrity in him, he would have resigned months ago.
Oh, and sorry, snowflakes, if this is “Session bashing.”
Can you not kill it, Jeff? Does he just watch it from afar?
Wrong. Where is the evidence that a grand jury has been impaneled? You are reading too much Conservative Treehouse.
From all appearances he seems useless. I emphasize “appearances”.
Where is it in the U.S. Constitution that says the opposition party can set up shop and keep digging for dirt on a duly-elected president until they are successfully able to UNSEAT HIM?
MUELLER IS ENGAGED IN A COUP AND SHOULD BE ARRESTED FOR TREASON AGAINST OUR DULY-ELECTED PRESIDENT!!!
Mueller, Comey, Rosenstein, McCabe, Strzok and Page ALL BELONG IN FEDERAL PRISON.
Remember the day when we commented on how the Clinton loyalists were being drained financially with the various Special Prosecutors and wondering why they remained loyal?
He happens to be correct, but is doing nothing to control Mueller.
And Trump is still making huge mistakes. He has let America down and still is. He lacks the courage to attack the swamp that is destroying us.
I kind of agree with Sessions. In my opinion, Special counsels should have a very narrow scope. The reason these things start taking a life of their own is they start looking for crimes outside the scope. If they uncover something not related to their scope it should be handed off to the appropriate authorities.
Mueller has an unlimited budget and unrestrained scope so this thing will probably go on throughout Trump’s Presidency.
