Interesting to see how this will play out. A.N.S. Plastics Corp, one of the biggest manufacturers of plastic bags, is based in New Jersey.

They also make biodegradable plastic bags, but I don't know how widespread their use is, how long it takes them to biodegrade, and whether this matters to Cuomo.

There is a BIG difference between “biodegradable” plastic and BioPlastic which are made from organic material and truly decompose.

“Biodegradable” plastic is largely a scam, while it may break down faster than non biodegradable plastic, it is still made from petrochemicals, and they don’t fully compost, and only break down when exposed to oxygen and light. Which often doesn’t happened because they wind up buried.

Frankly I have no issue with the ban on plastic bags, while NYC may be the biggest city in the US discussing doing it, it has been done in many communities around the country, particularly those near the coasts or wetlands and its been a net positive for those communities.

Reusable bags are also a scam.. they wind up contaminated and are just not safe. Just use paper bags.

He’d do better enviro wise to ban disposable diapers. They take 500 yrs to decompose. Now you are adding in Adult diapers.
