My grand-daughter is an American Girl member. Her brother is a Cub Scout. She asked her dad if she could join her brother in Cub Scouts. She likes spending time with her brother as he is her best friend. But she also likes her American Girl activities. Her dad is going to let her decide how she proceeds.

I really don't have a problem with it. As long as the individual parents who form the leadership of the troop don't have a problem with it. Troops always work best when the parents are involved and watch everything.

I think that as girls go into Boy Scouts there may be a drop off of girl activity. Most girls are not fond of raw camping.

If you need a father/daughter group, that isn’t as structured as some of these other groups, see if you have a Y Princesses group in your area... Its definitely NOT the boy scouts or the girl scouts, but it is an organization dedicated to the fostering of the father/daughter relationship.

Sadly the Girl Scouts were taken over by radical feminists and homosexuals at the national level at least 2 decades ago, while the individual troops are still generally run by good folks, the org itself long ago lost its way.
