As far as I’m concerned it’s great. I have good retiree healthcare from P&G but my premiums are low and so is my deductible.

We have several extremely good hospitals. We have Vanderbilt (Nashville), University of Tennessee (Knoxville), Erlanger, Memorial (Chattanooga) and several others. Don’t believe everything you hear about healthcare being bad in the South. There are also medical vans that set up in different places that offer the poor medical care. Also close-by is the Emory University Hospital of Atlanta GA.

Our cost of living is also a fraction of what it is in liberal states AND we are very gun friendly with open carry. :-) We are a right-to-work state.

Our only really bad spot is Memphis but not because of any of the above. Memphis is our Chicago and Baltimore. There is a lot of crime in the inner city of Memphis, much more than in Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. There are a lot of small towns in TN with small town values.

They even cut your property taxes at age 65.

Sigh. That's soooo not a good idea. NYS, where I live, does it, too. The money to make up for the loss has got to come from somewhere, and disincentivizing people to have the kids who'll pay through the nose to keep their elders afloat, that won't end well.

It is hard to tell if they are escaping high taxes or if they are intent on introducing their benighted brethren in the low tax states of the glorious benefits of high taxes.

"Honey, it is so nice here in our new home with the low crime rate and low taxes and the government not constantly limiting what we can do and mandating what we must do. I love it. But the state just needs a few more services. We need to support the Democrat candidate."

I agree. but in the meantime, I try to get back every tax dollar that I paid. Also, KY has a governor that is pulling out all the stops to get this budget managed, and the teachers union, et al is fighting him at every turn. But he’s doing it anyway. He’s like a local Trump, but with more articulate speech.

The Top 25 is going to include all the high-population Eastern states, plus California. Still 5 mil. out of a healthy three-digit number.

The phenomenon will eventually give the emocrats a permanent Electoral College edge. It will be permanent because once they get the Presidency again that is the last relatively straightforward election there will be. No, they will not end elections. Totalitarian regimes always have and trumpet their “elections,” but they don’t mean quite the same thing that elections in pre 2000 USA or in Switzerland have meant.

Just heard on FoxBiz that the job increase rate in blue/high tax states, is now FIFTY PERCENT LESS, than red state/low tax states.

That is incredible.

...and the way that blue states are tightening the screws with GUN CONTROL will only make their outflow worse

And this is a GOOD THING. The blue states are lost to us, the goal now is to strengthen the red and purple states.

Bit old at this point. NC’s top tax rate is down over 2% from this. Several liberal states are higher.

Progressivism ultimately reduces everyone to either funding sources or welfare.

The basic function of a subject is to fund the government and they justify it on the back of the “benefits” they offer.

But what it really boils down to is employing a lot of folks who think we cannot live without them, who have skills with questionable marketability, and who expensively sponge off of the rest of us doing what we could do for ourselves, or families, and even each other on the relative cheap.

Government produces nothing of value and is a net cost.

Ironically, the same folks who go on about anthropogenic global warming are the leading contributor, as they not only do the things they say hurts the environment they CAUSE everyone else to do even more of that just to overcome the costs imposed by the government.

And states like Iowa and Nebraska have a deep aversion to deficit spending.

Still, if we retire it will be someplace else.

If only they would. But in Texas even our native tax and spendians may not leave for long because they often go to those progressive paradises and discover they LIKE the bubble we conservatives provide, and so come home.

It notably happened many years ago when Molly Ivens went on and on about how she was going to move to the real world in San Fransisco and away from all the conservative yokels. Once there she had the obligatory it’s great here OPEDs but these grew fewer and fewer between until one day we were treated to an I’m back and be glad to be away from all that weirdness piece.

Of course she never stopped bucking for more progressivism here at home. I guess she assumed Texas could never become as crazy as California even with all these lefty loons trying to push us in that direction.

Of course I know what really happened: unlike proverbial frogs in frying pans people can learn to put up with the increasing heat just so long as it happens slow enough. But turn up the heat all at once, as happened to Ivens, and even people will jump.

In the years since I’m sure Austin is certainly now as far gone as San Fransisco was then, probably further, as so-called “progressives” never stop trying to undo the genius of our nation’s founding, not to mention now the genius of Western Culture and even to turn to do everything Scripture abhors and treat that as evidence of “progress”.

Then voting for politicians that promise more spending leading to higher taxes?
>

Why not? I have yet to note of *ANY* State whom fully defends/upholds the Constitution (Federal, if not their own).

IMO, they’re the ‘smart ones’ (not only getting what is theirs, but yours\mine as well); we’re the suckers picking up the tab.

These people are too stupid and too arrogant to admit that they are the reason that the states they’re moving from are disasters.

But the biggest problem with all of this migration is, they’re like locusts. They bring the same attitudes, thinking and demands that destroyed their towns, cities, counties and states, and start destroying their new home. Of course, they’re all voting for Democrats.

A perfect example is the 6th Congressional district in Georgia. Where former HHS Sec Price was from. Great schools. Low taxes. Things are good. They almost elected John Ossoff, last election. The liberal child that didn’t even live in the district. It’s a bunch of white, liberals from all over, mostly from up North, that are trying to turn it, Blue. And they are succeeding. But, of course, they’re the typical white, liberal. Hypocritical to the Nth degree. Love the Democratic and Liberal agenda, as long as none of the people it’s supposed to “help and bring up” live in the same subdivision or frequent the, wine tastings on the Square in Roswell. Wait til MS-13 starts hanging out there, we’ll see how great it is.

There should be a law that forces you to show your voting choices for the last 4 election cycles. If you voted for any Democrat, you cannot leave. You have to wallow in the misery that you helped create.

RE:”Why not? I have yet to note of *ANY* State whom fully defends/upholds the Constitution (Federal, if not their own).”

It is the general expectation among Americans that the Federal courts will enforce that.

GENERAL WELFARE CLAUSE. Article I, section 8 of the U. S. Constitution grants Congress the power to “lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts, and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common defense and general Welfare of the United States.
” Since the late eighteenth century this language has prompted debate over the extent to which it grants powers to Congress that exceed those powers specifically enumerated in the Constitution. The precise meaning of the clause has never been clear, in large part due to its peculiar wording and placement in the Constitution.
