The perp is a 29 year old kid that grew up in a upper middle class family. He is 29 and was arrested last year for being in a White House restricted area. He lives in Illinois and his fire arms permit was lifted and four weapons taken away.
His mom and dad have a crane Rental company. Nice, conservative sounding.
Son thinks he is a “sovereign citizen” and not subject to US laws.
Dad gives the son his guns back.
This is like leftists, conservatives or middle road everywhere, they will not admit their adult child is severely mentally ill and needs confinement. Now he has gone out naked except for a jacket and taken his AR and killed four people.
A solid young man out after a night on the town was ready to spring on him and saved many more.

He acted in a very smart way.
I encountered a similar situation almost 25 years ago and I charged the shooter and took away his weapon. I’ve still got the scars but no one was injured or killed as the shooter intended to kill a lot of people. Welcome to the fraternity, Mr. Shaw.

How true. Investigative Discovery program just had an episode where an upstate NY well-regarded family had such a problem son and four people died because they tried to keep his escapades quiet.
Dad was an attorney, thinking of running for sheriff; mom was a sharp woman involved in community work, young son was a bright kid in college; grandpa was of the same caliber (no pun intended). All four were shot to death by the older son who was institutionalized, set free under medication, didn't taken 'em when he got home, and went off the rails.
Police found him in the woods. Kept telling the cops to kill him (shotgun in hand). They tried talking him down and when he started shooting, they returned fire (AR-15s) and killed him.
