Facebook Will FORCE All Users To Accept Being TRACKED Around The Internet
Shtf Plan ^ | 04/19/18 | Mac Salvo

Facebook has finally responded to requests to stop tracking users for advertising. But they aren’t going to. Instead, Facebook is going to force all of those who continue to use their social media service to accept being tracked around the internet.

“People can choose to not be on Facebook if they want,” said Facebook Deputy Chief Privacy Officer Rob Sherman. Or, they will be forced to opt into being tracked everywhere they go, and that’s just the way it is. This decision was not made in the interest of the users of Facebook, but explicitly to keep the company’s business model “intact,” reported the Independent.

Some had suggested that the site will have to make major changes once a new European Union privacy law comes into effect. Many parts of those new regulations seem in direct conflict with Facebook’s business, including new rules about what information can be harvested about users. But that’s exactly why Facebook will explicitly demand that you opt into being tracked.

Sherman said that the social network will begin seeking Europeans’ permission this week for a variety of ways Facebook uses their data, but he said that opting out of targeted marketing altogether would not be possible.  Therefore, you’ll be tracked if you continue to use Facebook.  “Facebook is an advertising-supported service,” Sherman said in a briefing with reporters at Facebook’s headquarters. Facebook users will only be able to limit the kinds of data that advertisers use to target their pitches, he said, but “all ads on Facebook are targeted to some extent, and that’s true for offline advertising, as well.”

Facebook, which is still the world’s largest social media network, will use what are known as “permission screens” to notify and obtain approval. “Permission screens” are ...

Thanks. I am going to remember that. Interesting! Maybe also use Microsoft’s Outlook email. I rather be used/abused/misused/scavenged by Microsoft than the google evil empire.

Suppose you don’t have farce buch in your browser— but signon from the page each time... ie. no browser link at all.

Ad block all facebook ads. etc.

Any other suggestions?

This is both arrogant and annoying from a dude who is already a billionaire plus, and needs a booster cushion since he is a little punk, for real.

would be interested in your skillsets on keeping this farce buch from non-permission theft of one’s data. As a condition of terms of use to track one anywhere else on the internet— says who? Maybe they are suiciding.

YOu mean like Harry Reid said about paying IRS annual fed taxes..... is “voluntary” right.

As a terms of use— saying “we can follow you anywhere else you go on the net” is not a bit shy of incredible. Arrogant.

Golly so many people that SHOULD know better, (because they are FReepers), are so naive. They think using a fake name and adblock or some other browser thing, and deleting cookies or a VPN the surveillance behemoth websites keeps their real stuff private. It does not.

It helps in the short term, but even if you use them all, if your real identity is used anywhere online (order online, pay bills online, have a banking app on your phone, etc. they can develop a pretty precise profile of you if they want to expend the effort.

That’s not going to be enough. With default browser settings just going to facebook.com, much less logging in, will set tracker cookies in your browser which will then start tracking you. You will have to manually remove all facebook cookies after every visit (go to browser settings and search cookies containing the word facebook). Facebook is a menace. It served an important purpose once upon a time by bringing people together. Now that everyone has everyone else’s contact info there’s no need to be on it.

An agreement to do something illegal is itself illegal.

No problemo. I can finally get around to deleting myself from Facebook. Just like I haven’t done business with Targay since they gave us normal Americans the middle finger.

My teen children and their friends all regard Facebook as “for old people”; if that perception is widespread, and this spying stuff stays in the news long enough, they have serious problems. They’ll become the new “MySpace”...

Its nothing like that. Facebook is a service. You either use it or you don’t. Billions of people are living totally fulfilled lives and don’t use facebook.

And if you don’t want to be followed around the net, then don’t allow them to put cookies on your computer.

I also had the fake pseudonym FB account, very careful, only sent a single message to another fake user once, have all the privacy extensions on my browsers, send no personal emails or texts, yet they found out and started calling me ‘steve’ a bit later.

I’m gonna get a Facebook account for some of my power tools, let them track ‘em and tell me where they are.

“They” have been fine tuning it for years. And it’s not just the internet. The grocery stores know what you’re “likely” to buy based on your past purchases with that card with the little magnetic strip.

What I don’t get is I’ve never seen an ad on Facebook.

The other “they” is the government. They already know everything about us. Practically ALL crimes are immediately solvable. But to do so would be admitting they’re watching your every move.

What few “friends” I have on Facebook rarely use it. And I’ve looked up people I know and most of them haven’t posted in several years.

I don’t “follow” anyone so I’m not disturbed by postings. Not more than 10 people know my email or phone number and I don’t have cable. It’s fairly peaceful around my house.

You can 'delete your account' from Facebook but realize that everything you've posted there is Facebook's forever.

The trick to get deleted is to piss them off.

Ask the Mods here what the WORST THING one could do to get Banned for Life on FR.

Take that to 20th Power on FB and see if that works.
