Starbucks is planning to follow up on its CEOs promise to implement unconscious bias training by closing more than 8,000 company-owned stores across the U.S. on May 29 to conduct racial bias training, per a Starbucks news release.
Ive spent the last few days in Philadelphia with my leadership team listening to the community, learning what we did wrong and the steps we need to take to fix it, said Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson in the statement.
While this is not limited to Starbucks, were committed to being a part of the solution. Closing our stores for racial bias training is just one step in a journey that requires dedication from every level of our company and partnerships in our local communities.
Company-owned retail stores, as well as corporate offices, will close for the afternoon of Tuesday, May 29 for employees to undergo training designed to address implicit bias, promote conscious inclusion, and deal with discrimination issues, the news release confirms.
The training measures will reportedly be designed by Bryan Stevenson of the Equal Justice Initiative, Sherrilyn Ifill of the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Heather McGhee of Demos and Jonathan Greenblatt of the Anti-Defamation League, as well as former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. Moving forward, this curriculum will become part of routine training for all new Starbucks hires, the company says.
Starbucks-licensed outlets, such as those found in colleges or supermarkets, or inside other retail outlets, are not included among the 8,000-plus company-owned stores confirmed to be closing in Starbucks announcement, and not required to close. A spokesperson for Fox News has confirmed that the curriculum will be available to those outlets, and licensed stores will be encouraged to participate in the training.
"We will learn from our mistakes and reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming

Imagine that you and I have ten dollars each.
However, I insist that I have nothing and that you have twenty dollars, so you must give me ten dollars to make things equal.
I then get the government to force you to do that.
That is the the approach of The Left.
The tests are not repeatable and accurate the way IQ tests are.
The tests have been politicized in a way the creators never intended and say it cannot be.
There’s bias in how the results are interpreted, a no-win situation that no matter what you do, you need training.
And there’s no evidence the training does what they think it does, and some evidence it is counter-productive.

It won’t effect me one bit. Their coffee is over priced 40W swill.
They are that stupid. I bet they pay various race pimp organizations for the Philly incident, which was probably a setup.
And not once will disproportionate black crime be mentioned
Only Whitey will be blamed. Blacks have nothing to do with why they are viewed with suspicion and profiled
Id love it if 8000 stores has zero sales on the 29th.
“Starbucks closing 8,000 US stores on May 29 to conduct ‘racial bias training’”
One day, or part of one day, is not enough time. Close the stores for a full month. Just to be sure.
Then determine the risks of reopening. With their admittedly low human relations scores, why reopen and take a chance of hurting still more people?
Make that the 30th.
Thought the indoctrination day was on the 28th.
I guess Starbucks stores will no longer require codes or keys to get into their bathrooms either. Come one, come all!
Black Rifle Coffee Company coffee and good press. Can’t beat it.
Indeed! We should boycott Starbucks for being so racist!

Whataburger has super coffee
They won’t have to close the stores in Wakanda.
Idiots.
My wife loves it me nope when we go togeter before a road trip she orders first they ask me I say Wih Timber in my voice No thanks Im stopping at AM PM for a good old fashion cup of joe
If they want to put their money where their mouths are, they should open their stores to all the homeless and indigent and let them use their facilities and bathrooms whenever they want to. For that matter, why not free coffee for them? After all, if theyre awake from the caffeine, they wont be sleeping in a crumpled, drug addled heap in front of the Starbucks.
Full disclosure, I haven’t been to Starbucks in ages since I discovered their coffee did a good job of removing rust from my tools (OK, just kiddin”).
However, I may force myself to go to Starbucks. When they ask what my name is I just say Whitey, or Blackie or whatever. Then just stand back and watch their faces when they call my name.
They’ll probably close another day for more sensitivity training.
How often to you have to use the water filled plunger thingy ?
Just wondering how much this stunt is going to cost them?
