PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Southwest Airlines jet made an emergency landing at Philadelphia's airport Tuesday with part of the covering from its left engine ripped off and a window damaged.

Passengers walked off the 737 plane onto the tarmac at the airport. It wasn't immediately known if anyone on board was injured. Southwest Airlines said there were 143 passengers and five crewmembers on board.

“One passenger, a woman, was partially … was drawn out towards the out of the plane … was pulled back in by other passengers,” he said in a phone interview with NBC10.

"Just when I thought I was out....they pull me back in!"

It’s amazing how far aft of the engine bypass fan the destroyed window is located. I always thought that the shrapnel wasn’t affected by the air velocity and impacts were immediately opposite the failure location on the engine.

Trust me, no matter how big you are, you’d fit.

Aircraft cabin are pressurized to the equivalent of 6,000 to 8,000 feet, about 11 psia. At 35,000 feet, the exterior pressure is 3.5 psia.So you ave about 7.5 pounds of differential pressure on every square inch. If the window is 1 square foot in area, you have about 1,000 pounds of force pushing you out through that tiny opening. Can you say “squish”?

Funny thing is, I’ve seen very few movies made after 2000.

So I flew in here to Phoenix from Flagstaff because my manager doesn’t have a map. He chartered one of those small private jets. I flew here on a small plane that was like the size of a pack of gum with eight people in it. We were putzing along. We were going half the speed of *smell!* We got passed by a kite! There was a goose behind us and the pilot was yelling “Go around!” So about halfway through the trip, we start losing oil pressure in one of the engines, and the pilot says we have to turn around. It was a nine minute flight, but couldn’t make it with that equipment. He came over the intercom and said “Hey, we’re losing oil pressure in one of the engines,” which I couldn’t understand why he did, because he could have just turned around and said, “Hey, we’re losing oil pressure.” *”heard’ja”* Everyone else started freaking out, but I had been drinking since lunchtime, so I was like “Take it down! I don’t care! Make sure y you hit something hard, ‘cause I don’t want to limp away from this!” The guy next to me is *losing his mind*. I guess he must have had something to “live for”. He says, “Hey man, if one of the engines goes out, how far will the other one take us?” I look at him. “All the way to the scene of the crash! Which is pretty lucky, because that’s where we’re headed! I bet we beat the paramedics by a good half hour! We’re haulin’ ass!”

Does anyone have access to the pilot and co pilot of this plane were? My nephew flies for SouthWest, out of El Paso or Dallas.

He was taught how to fly by his father, my brother... and my brother lived with the training ability to “you can bring an airplane down with engine failure”

There were reports of someone having a heart attack during the incident. Was that the death or was it the one who was injured by window?
