'Syria attack didn't resolve anything but preserved int'l honor'

French President Emmanuel Macron defended his country’s participation in a massive missile strike over the weekend, which saw more than 100 missiles fired from US, British, and French ships and aircraft at sites used by the Assad regime’s chemical weapon program.

The three countries struck eight targets at three separate facilities over the weekend a week after the Syrian government allegedly used sarin nerve gas and chlorine gas to kill dozens of civilians in a suburb of Damascus.

The Western allies informed the Kremlin of the attacks ahead of time, allowing Russia to remove its forces from the targeted compounds and surrounding areas. Russia is allied with both Iran and the Assad regime, and critics have suggested that the prior notification of the attacks limited their effectiveness.

On Tuesday, Macron suggested during an address to the European parliament that the missile strikes likely did not “resolve anything” in the region, but were nevertheless “important” for preserving the ‘honor of the international community’.

“Those who are shocked by images of women, of children who have been attacked by chlorine, we need to stand up to defend our rights. What are we going to say, our rights and principles are just for us? No, that simply isn’t acceptable,” Macron said, according to AFP.

“These strikes don’t necessarily resolve anything but I think they were important,” said Macron, adding that the missile attack upheld “the honor of the international community”.

Say what, froggy twig boy?

My reluctant support for the strike has, after the fact, evaporated. "Honor of the international community," is it?! An oxymoron if ever there was one.

Can’t Western “Leaders” just shut up for once? I mean, we all know it had very little effect but do we have to come out and say it??? WTF is wrong with us?

It’s unclear who did the gassing, and the strike resolved nothing. You heard Macron. I reluctantly supported punitive action, because it might make a future gas attack less likely. But you heard Macron. It had nothing to do with stopping gas attacks, and more to do with internashinull onher. Reminds me of a dirty poem.

She offered her honor.
He honored her offer.
And all thru the night
He was off her and on her.

Yes and than following the next gas attack, you would be on the attack being critical because the honorable thing among leading nations was not done.

Being honorable is being honorable.

“Syria attack didn’t resolve anything...”

It RESOLVED the usage of three facilities involved in producing and storing chemical weapons.

“The Western allies informed the Kremlin of the attacks ahead of time, allowing Russia to remove its forces from the targeted compounds... “

and then the allies listened in on the resulting communications as the russians scurried away to gather definitive intel about the sites, confirming their purpose ... most likely other secret diplomatic words were also exchanged, which is probably why the russian and allied public bellicosity ratcheted way down ...

No, that week I plan to move to Frisco, sprout wheels and become a trolly. Don’t tell me what I would do. The international community is made up of painted whores pretending that they’re duchesses. Honor, shmonor. They have none. Either it deters future chemical attacks, or it’s pointless.

I could make chlorine gas in an empty soda bottle. As for nerve gas, it’s glorified bug spray. Effect’s the same. Antidote’s the same; atropine injected deep. Syria’s capacity to make nerve gas was unaffected.

“Resolve anything?” Macron lacks focus and proper meditation. But then so do most political experts. Heh. The strikes slowed down the production of a nerve agent being developed to kill, terrorize and move many civilians. That’s something.

But after focusing myself on Macron’s words, it’s apparent that he was not referring to vain pride. He was referring to nations doing what is honorable in the context of doing good, so he was correct.

Making a nerve agent for a military purpose can actually be complicated and does involve other materials. Designing and building delivery systems is even more difficult. Labs and manufacturing shops are required, that is, unless another nation is supplying chemicals and/or hardware.

I might be wrong ... I usually am .... but wouldn’t bombing a poison gas storage facility result in the spread of poison gas ?

I spoke hastily due to extreme PO’d-ness at froggy twig boy. Of course delivery is difficult. If Trump, May and twiggy managed to degrade the Syrian delivery apparatus, then they did accomplish something, and twiggy was just too full of himself and his damned “honor” to say so. Do French politicians go to school to learn how to be so irritating, or does it just come naturally?
