What happened with all the chemicals? How dangerous are they? Are they in the air and people are breathing them? did they fall onto the soil and animals are eating them and will they contaminate the plants? What happens when it rains and the chemicals are washed down into the water? Well, huh? Any answers? No, didn’t think so.

Gherally tgese agents are destroyed by the heat of the mission strike
Many times nerve agents and chemical weapons have to be combined precisely and dispersed in a specific way in order to be effective
Same with nukes even more so
All that said you send high explosives into ANY facility and all kinds of shiite goes down that’s unpredictable

All the hand wringing and pearl clutching here is like watching MSLSD or CNN.

This operation could have a secondary goal to smoke out Syrian (Russian) defences and the evidence may be that the Russians may be bluffing on their capabilities to shoot down incoming missiles. I guess we know now the russians were bluffing all along!

If the chemicals are now destroyed so that there cannot be another “chemical attack”, what excuse will the powers that be use next time they want an action against Assad for “American security”?

My husband, who is a military history buff, told me that exploding things like chlorine gas, is how the military gets rid of chemical weapons. Apparently, it incinerates them to the point that they are harmlessly vaporized. If anyone has better information, it would be appreciated.

Well, if that’s true, then fine. Thanks for the answer. Still, there’s what ifs.

America chases its own tail as it is wagged by idiocy. Foreign policy of the USA kills Americans and costs Billions. Let Iran and Saudi Arabia have their proxy war. We can drill our own oil and we don’t need their sand.

I know many Freepers will disagree, but this was an excellent move by Team Trump. Mattis & those who have served know full well that once the terms like “Genocide and Chemical Weapons” are used NATO & even the useless U.N. are required to act accordingly!

Now the question Trump must hammer home is, “If Obama & Kerry boasted that they removed all of Sryia’s Chemical Weapons and ability to produce them, how are they using them 4 years late.

Hosit them by their own agreement, I say.

This is the Iraq playbook dusted off and followed to a T. First Israel takes out your research reactors. Then the US bombs your WMD facilities. Gee, wonder what is coming next ? Maybe Hillary will tell us lol.

Heh. That's pretty funny. I'm prior service and trained quite a bit for chemical warfare environments. After being released into the environment, nerve agents aren't harmful for long at all. The shepherds and their flocks in tomorrow's Damascus will live better than ever.

Well, yeah. You have a lot of oil there in Russia. Maybe Russia should get out of Syria and try saving its own people for a change instead of trying to suck the life out of other countries.

As I posted over ten years ago, Syria will be, by far, the most complicated political mess we will ever try to sort out.

Syria is now two countries, east of the Euphrates is now Rojava, the Kurdish homeland, except for some areas around the Iraq border.

We have and will continue to sponsor Rojava. Consolidation and nation building is well underway.

One of our main goals is to end or severely limit the Quds Force and other Iranian influences in W Syria and Lebanon. Iran is the biggest benefactor to Hezbollah.

That will be the biggest benefit to Israel and Lebanon’s future.

However, Rojava doesn’t extend all the way to the Jordanian border. We need to stop the Iranian air routes to W Syria and need territory below, to do that.

Rojava solves a big part of that problem and, very importantly will control the Iranian oil pipelines to Turkey and Syria.

Tough neighborhood to be a cop.
