House Freedom Caucus co-founder Jim Jordan confirmed Friday he is considering a run to replace Paul Ryan as House speaker.
Paul Ryans the speaker. There is no speakers race. If and when there is, Im open to running," Jordan, an Ohio Republican, told the Washington Examiner.
Friday morning, HFC Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., acknowledged that Jordan is "being encouraged by some of his colleagues" to pursue Ryan's top position in the House.

Don’t count your House Majority until it’s hatched.
Jim Jordan as speaker would be just peachy, but I’m not holding my breath. Too many Republican squishes in Congress who don’t want to fight the left.
May I suggest Daniel Webster from FL?
I’d entertain the thought of Louie Gohmert (sp) from TX.
Or even Newt...

I think Jim Jordan would be a great Speaker, but the chances of the GOP keeping the House are slim.
Ryan is such a snake. He’s doing this so true conservatives can’t get in leadership. I hope Jim Jordan prevails, instead of Ryan choosing a bought-and-paid-for globalist to replace him.
Sorry Congressman Jordan, only DC establishment swamp pigs will be chosen for the House Speaker position. Sure, Steve Scalise will run and the establishment will make it appear to be a hard choice but Kevin McCarthy is an intrenched DC swamp pig and is a certainty to be the next speaker.
Wouldn’t it be wise to vote AFTER congress reconvenes with the newer members...the men and women who must follow the new Speaker.
This speaks to the same asinine belief that those who serve are able to pass their cushy chair to a family member just to keep it “All In The Family”
Do it
Love Jim j
Don’t worry about the house kids
You can’t bullshit your way through a house race
Only state and national elections
He would be great, so it’s likely too much to ask for from the RINOs.
So, we can’t opine on who would make a good Speaker until AFTER the November elections? I thought opinions were just subjective musings, and were not bound by temporal restraints.
You can opine all you wish. But to vote a speaker with the crew at this time seems very unfair to the new unknown crew arriving next session. The old crew, in essence, puts limitations on the new by their choice of speaker.
One might look at this and deem similar to illegal aliens able to vote their wishes into office and subsequent actions of those elected.
I said nothing at all of having the present House vote on Ryan’s replacement. Ryan will not step down until January, and the new House will vote for his replacement.
