President Trump now has real legal peril. The potential jeopardy stems from the investigation that came to light this week when the FBI conducted raids on the office and residences of his lawyer and self-professed fixer, Michael Cohen.

The matter now under investigation by the FBI and federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York (SDNY), however, is a very live criminal investigation. Anyone potentially connected to it should be worried.

...we are still not fully informed. Still, as an alum who spent nearly 20 years as an SDNY prosecutor, Im always inclined to assume my old office is up to serious business.

I believe that the government is investigating whether there was, in connection with Trumps White House bid, a conspiracy to commit fraud and extortion for the purpose of silencing potentially compromising sources specifically, people in a position to portray Donald Trump as a womanizer. Clearly, the prosecutors regard Trump and Cohen as potential co-conspirators.

search warrants sought, as the New York Times describes it, all documents, including emails between Mr. Cohen and Mr. Trump, related to Mr. Cohens efforts to suppress negative publicity ahead of the 2016 election. We know that these efforts specifically involve but are not necessarily limited to the burying of stories about Trumps flings with pornographic actress Stephanie Clifford (a.k.a. Stormy Daniels) and former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Various reports also indicate that a former Trump-building doorman named Dino Sajudin was paid $30,000 to stay silent

It seems evident that prosecutors are investigating on the theory that Clifford, McDougal, and perhaps others were defrauded or extorted into silence. The fact that they accepted money does not foreclose the possibility that their agreement to remain silent was procured, in part, by trickery or threats.

What about all the Congressmen that paid “hush” money to their playthings with taxpayer money? Guess they should be prosecuted too.
Actually, they all hired the same lawyer. One of the allegations is that Cohen steered them to a lawyer who was secretly working with him (Cohen) against his clients' interests. If that gets proven (a big if), there is a real scheme to defraud here, and both Cohen and the women's lawyer are in real trouble.

lolololololololol - nobody cares!
We didn't elect the pope, we elected a self-admitted former playboy billionaire businessman. And we already know that Playmates and other sex workers were for sale. Hefner never kept it a secret. It's never been a secret some women trade sex for money and it's never been a secret some women are golddiggers and exploiters of targeted married men. Anna Nicole should have at least taught us that. Nobody cares about consentual adult hetero sexual relationships, unless the women didn't declare the income - in which case, we want the taxes they didn't pay. Otherwise, eh. Stop wasting tax dollars on stupid gotcha-prosecutions.
“NEVER underestimate the governments power.”
The pig government is very, very good at killing women, children and babies.
Why would one ask the opposition attorney for advice on who to hire for an attorney ?
No one does. But every one of the women who signed a non-disclosure agreement with Cohen (not only the women who allegedly had sex with Trump, but also the woman involved with that RNC official who resigned in the last few days) somehow wound up with the same lawyer. There are allegations (unproven at this point) that Cohen manipulated this behind the scenes. If those allegations could be proven (and Cohen's emails will be very relevant here), Cohen is in deep, deep trouble (but I doubt Trump gets tarred with this).
