I Downloaded the Information That Facebook Has on Me. Yikes.

When I downloaded a copy of my Facebook data last week, I didn’t expect to see much. My profile is sparse, I rarely post anything on the site, and I seldom click on ads. (I’m what some call a Facebook “lurker.”)

But when I opened my file, it was like opening Pandora’s box.

With a few clicks, I learned that about 500 advertisers — many that I had never heard of, like Bad Dad, a motorcycle parts store, and Space Jesus, an electronica band — had my contact information, which could include my email address, phone number and full name. Facebook also had my entire phone book, including the number to ring my apartment buzzer. The social network had even kept a permanent record of the roughly 100 people I had deleted from my friends list over the last 14 years, including my exes.

There was so much that Facebook knew about me — more than I wanted to know. But after looking at the totality of what the Silicon Valley company had obtained about yours truly, I decided to try to better understand how and why my data was collected and stored. I also sought to find out how much of my data could be removed.

https://www.ghostery.com

FYI .... “Google Analytics” is the lone automated data that is detected by my ghostery add-on . FREE ! Used it for a few years along with duckduckgo, VPN’s, TOR etcetera .......

it will tell you every time you go to any web page, who is getting your info.

During those Zuckerberg hearings last week, I was thinking about all those different conservatives that I hadn’t seen in my Facebook feed in the past couple of months.

Suddenly, since the hearings, once again they have all magically reappeared. ;-)

That’s only to protect your privacy from spouses, friends, relatives, roommates and that.

The techies still grab and save everything.

I do my best to poison pill my personal ID across the net. Different birthplaces, birthdates, addresses, fake friends, phones, spouses etc.

Hard to hide completely but do my best to obfuscate and cause data collisions.

“Google Sucks!” Ok, since Google tracks everything, let’s just begin and end each post with “Google Sucks!”

The personal contact information is available on everybody. Just look at white pages. All Facebook can collect, that you or me cannot collect ourselves, is internally posted Facebook stuff.

Comey said it in an interview maybe 2+ years ago, when he was still Director of the FBI and before Trump was elected. It was a creepy thing for an FBI Director to say like that...It would’ve better if he’d have saved those remarks for an official FBI Public Service Announcement, but since he’s the POS that he is, he’s done much the same kind of thing in his interview with George “Stuffinenvelopes” Stephanopolis, another liberal anti-Trump POS Clinton Crime Family operative.
